Once again, Ryan and Annie see NOTHING wrong with Ryan's actions
because Richie is a "bad guy". Yeah, he DID deliberately make it
look like they were hanging him. Yeah, he IS a "bad guy", but guess
what? They WERE HANGING HIM. If the chair tipped over, whether
Richie kicked it out from under him or there was an earthquake or
the chair broke from his weight, they are STILL culpable of
(attempted) Second Degree Murder because THEY strung him up in the
first place. Ryan might not have been in on the actual string-up,
but he and Aidan kidnapped Richie and held him prisoner with the
intent of coercing him into a confession. Then Aidan rigged up the
noose to that end. Ryan is just as responsible for it as Aidan,
just like a getaway driver is responsible if one of the bank robbers
INSIDE the bank shoots and kills someone.
If they are trying to get us to hate Richie for being a bad guy,
they are going about it in the WRONG way! So far, the only
despicable behavior I've seen is from ANNIE AND RYAN. Annie falsely
testifies against her brother because she thinks he'll get
psychiatric help in prison. Ryan manhandles and orders around
prison officials. Aidan and Ryan kidnap Richie and use deadly force
against him in order to get him to fess up to terrorizing Annie, all
on Annie's say-so. That doesn't mean Richie isn't a heinous serial
killer or that Annie's wrong about it -- it just means we don't KNOW
him enough to CARE if he's set up -- we mostly only see Ryan and
Annie steamrollering over everyone. At this point I want Richie to
be a good guy (even though I know he's NOT) just to piss off Annie
and Ryan and wipe the smugness off their faces.
Why are Aidan and Ryan put into the same cell where they can collude
to get their stories straight?
