Friday Update September 27, 2002 Parts 1 & 2
[NOTE: If you've already read PART 1, skip down to PART 2]
PART1
PREVIOUSLY ON ALL MY CHILDREN
In Anna's office, Kendall tells Jackson: "I know you're trying to
figure out who burned down Erica's house. Well, I know who did it.
It was Trey Kenyon."
At Liza's house, she tells Anna: "Maybe I should just talk to
counsel." Anna: "Could you just look at me as though I'm not the
Chief of Police investigating a case? I'm just a woman trying to find
out how much the man I love has betrayed me."
At their penthouse, Leo tells Greenlee: "I have something I need to
tell you. I can't go to Paris, not now."
PVPD
A disbelieving Jackson listens (barely) as Kendall fills him in on
Trey's true identity. Kendall is wearing a lavender top with about 7
too many strips of elastic -- it looks like it belongs on a 3-yr-old.
Her lower half is wearing shiny black leather pants. Jackson picks up
the phone to call Chris. Kendall: "No, there's no way in HELL I'm
talking to Chris Stamp!"
Jackson advises Kendall to talk to Chris if she knows anything about
that case. She insists that Chris will not LISTEN to anything she
says. He promises he won't let it get personal. She asks if that
will be before or AFTER he walks on water. Jack smiles and says it's
HER choice. He calls Chris and asks him to come over to hear
something. Meanwhile, Kendall yanks open the door to leave. In a BIG
gaffe, we can see that there is nothing but a dimly lit brick wall on
the other side of the door, even though the window NEXT to the door
shows an office area. When Jackson walks over and asks where she's
going, we can see bright lighting coming in the door and hear an
office telephone ring in the background. ROTFL! [It's the little
gems like that that you MISS when you FF] Jack pulls her back into
the room and shuts the door, telling her that Chris is a professional
and will listen to her [shyeah, RIGHT]. She says Chris is Ryan's DAD
and he BLAMES her for Ryan leaving town. Jack says it has nothing to
do with THIS and guides her to a chair. He sits as she repeats that
Chris won't listen to her. They go around and around saying pretty
much the same things. In the meantime, Chris has walked up to the
door and is waiting and waiting and waiting to make his entrance (you
can SEE his jacket through the window). Chris opens the door, takes
one dramatic step into the room and stops to stare at Kendall. Jack
tells him that Kendall has some info about the arson at Erica's house.
Chris, hands in pockets, snorts: "HELL she does!" Kendall
predictably jumps up and yells that she is OUT of there! Jack yanks
her back into her chair and tells Chris to listen to what she has to
say -- she has info that implicates TREY KENYON. Chris: "Your
ATTORNEY?" Kendall meekly says they ALL make mistakes. Chris notes
that SHE seems to keep making them over and over and over and over.
Jack again tells Chris to listen, then tells Kendall to spill what she
knows. She takes a deep breath. She tells Chris that Trey is really
Ben Sheppard, Vanessa's son, etc. He came here because Vanessa dumped
him when he was born and he figured she owed him, so he was after the
$10,000,000 that everyone was looking for. Then he and Leo bonded and
agreed to turn the money in. Chris is skeptical of Leo and Trey
working TOGETHER. She says she didn't believe it either, but Trey was
willing to turn the money in. But then they found it, but it's not
worth a cent. Chris is shocked and all ears at hearing that they
found the money. Kendall says yeah, it was at the State Park, but
she's wondering if the reason Trey was willing to turn it in was that
he knew what they would find. Jack tries to get her to slow down and
back up to the MONEY part, but she rolls on, saying that Trey didn't
KNOW that when he broke into Erica's house to steal Chris's files and
then burned the house down to cover his tracks. Jackson finally gets
a word in edgewise and she HEARS him tell her to back up to the money
part -- they FOUND the money? Kendall says YES -- weren't they
LISTENING? Leo has it and he's going to bring it in. Jack
skeptically asks if Trey is going along with that. Kendall says yeah,
but that doesn't mean he should get away with what he DID! Notice she
STILL hasn't said they found stock certificates, not actual CASH.
Jack says no one is getting away with anything. She insistently says
that Trey stole her lighter and tried to make it look like SHE started
that fire! Chris: "Well, according to YOU." She jumps up and again
insists that Trey set her up to take the fall for him and wanted her
to plead guilty. Chris asks how exactly does she know he took her
lighter [how exactly did THEY know it was HER lighter in the first
place?]. She says it HAD to be Trey -- it wasn't even MISSING until
she was in jail. Chris continues to sneer. Kendall insists Trey
tried to frame her. Jack assures her that he'll look into it. She
says no, they have to go and GET him! Chris snottily says that all
they have right now is her word against Trey's and there aren't many
things that he trusts on this planet LESS than HER word. She gulps,
but crosses her arms and stands firm.
CHANDLER HOUSE
Liza lets Anna in and feebly asks how she's been. Anna hands her a
subpoena for any materials she might have in her possession having to
do with David Hayward. [Does Anna ever actually DO anything having to
do with the running of the PVPD, other than ordering officers to
apprehend her husband every 36 hours or so? Doesn't she have some
timecards to approve, administrative staff meetings to conduct, or
ribbons to cut?] Liza asks if the subpoena is to search her home
[actually, I think that would be a search warrant]. Anna says she
hopes it won't come to that and that Liza will cooperate. Liza
questions this turn of events considering their earlier bonding over
being strong, smart women who love powerful, but despicable men. Anna
apologizes as Liza notes that now it appears it's okay to treat her
like a common criminal. Anna says Liza never did answer her question
about her connection to David -- it (the subpoena) is just a little
memory jog for Liza. Liza corrects her, saying it's an INSULT and
Anna KNOWS it. She says David got to her at a very vulnerable time
what with the brain tumor and all, and he got her involved in a rather
BAD business deal. Anna says she understands that David took
advantage of her and she resents it. Anna asks why then did Liza use
one of Chandler's attorneys to get him out of jail. She KNOWS Liza is
hiding something and tells her that David is not worth it. Liza
shrugs and blandly asks if she's in trouble. Anna, still feeling
close to Liza, says no, but they should KEEP it that way. She asks
what it is that David is SO afraid that she'll find out. Liza gazes
at her, poker-faced.
Liza says maybe she needs to talk to her lawyer. Anna says only if
she's planning on giving her a hard time -- she doesn't know why she's
putting herself on the line like this for DAVID and reminds her of
what David did to Maria. Liza says David saved Maria's LIFE. Anna
says that he forced her into hiding and kept her away from her
CHILDREN! Liza gently says that Maria didn't REMEMBER them. Anna
puts a hand to her forehead and says that's because she didn't get a
CHANCE since she was so busy running around the country to hide from
authorities. Liza sits on the couch and says she knows that. Anna
takes off her over-the-chest strangle-purse and also sits. She
reminds Liza that she had said she stayed there with Adam for Colby's
sake because she is THAT precious to her. Liza says Colby is her
CHILD. Anna pushes home the point that David kept Maria away from her
children for YEARS. Liza takes a breath and says she knows that this
is PERSONAL to Anna. Anna rubs her forehead again and says no, Liza
DOESN'T understand -- even now that Maria understands what David did
to her, she's STILL not going to press charges! Liza says she can
understand that, can't she? Anna passionately says she CAN'T [note
that she said CAN'T, not KON'T]. Liza gently prods her and Anna
finally says she CAN understand -- one woman after another -- first
Dixie, then Maria [actually, it was the other way around]. Liza:
"And?" Anna: "Now me, GOD knows!" She shrugs and, annoyed, says:
"No matter what he DOES, we always FORGIVE him!" Liza: "Well, why
can't you just accept that you're this full-fledged member of the
club?" She says Anna has David and she has Adam. Anna admits that
she's on a mission that has nothing to do with her job or justice, and
she needs to get OUT of the club. Liza is skeptical. Anna says that
if she can just get him into JAIL -- THAT'S where he BELONGS. She
NEEDS to do that for herself and for her baby. Liza says Anna needs
to know that she's strong enough to do that. Anna [who is giving me a
headache at this point] whines that she doesn't know if she IS strong
enough without Maria to help build a case. Liza thinks for a while,
then says she wants immunity. She stands and says she wants to talk
to the DA and make sure that NO charges are brought against HER. Anna
jumps up and assures her that it will ABSOLUTELY happen and she'll get
it in writing from Jackson -- they don't want LIZA, they want DAVID!
Liza says she doesn't want her word in writing -- she just wants her
WORD. Anna gives it. Liza looks sympathetically at her. Anna asks
what she knows about David. Liza says it's not what she knows, it's
what she HAS. She doesn't know if it's what they're looking for, but
she'll get it and Anna can decide. Liza leaves the room. Anna gets
up and takes a few steps. She looks sick and is sweating. She pants,
sits in another chair, then loosens her belt. She remembers David
defending himself about saving Maria's life.
DU PRES PENTHOUSE
Near the front door, Greenlee asks Leo to repeat what he just said (re
not going to Paris just yet). He says David is in a mess and he can't
leave PV right now. She stomps into the living room and orders David
to tell her what he said to Leo. David, Maggie and Trey all jump up.
Maggie defends David, but Greenlee says she didn't ASK her. Leo steps
in and soothingly says it's HIS decision -- David NEEDS him. She
demands to know for how long -- the last she heard, David was in
enough trouble to keep them there until Leo is too old to get on the
plane without a walker! He quietly says he can't put a timetable on
it, but they WILL eventually get there. She takes that to mean
they'll be in PV for the rest of their LIVES! Practically whispering
now in order not to startle the wolverine, he says no and that she
KNOWS he would do ANYTHING for her. Greenlee: "Then take me to Paris
-- right now!"
The kinfolk scatter as Greenlee paces deeper into the living room,
arguing with Leo about Paris, Paris, PARIS! [Which makes me think of
my great-nephew, Paris. He's 3' tall now and he's not even 2-1/2 -- a
regular little Eiffel Tower!] While Trey frantically puts on his
jacket and looks around for flying shrapnel, Leo hisses: "But my
family is in a CRISIS right now, Greenlee!" Greenlee: "What's new?
When ANYONE screws up in this town, the FIRST thing they do is become
one of your relatives!" [LOL!] She seriously questions his sanity!
Spying the kinfolk trying to creep out the door, she bites out: "HEY,
where do you think you're going?" David mutters something about
giving them their privacy. She clomps over and tells him to FORGET
about privacy -- stop SUCKERING her HUSBAND! David assures her that
they on her side and would love nothing more than for Leo to just GO
and FORGET about them. Greenlee thinks that's good -- then it's
SETTLED. Leo begs for her to understand. Greenlee: "No, I
understand completely. The great CON ARTIST is being royally CONNED!"
Maggie interrupts and asks HOW -- didn't Greenlee hear them
practically PUSHING her and Leo out the door? David adds that nobody
is conning ANYBODY. Greenlee juts her chin in Trey's direction and
says: "Oh really?" David turns to stare at Trey, who humbly agrees
with David about them working this out on their own. He pats David
and gestures toward the door. The familial trio meekly bid adieu and
tell them to play nice; they then am-scray while their asses are still
intact. Back near the fireplace, Greenlee jerks away from Leo and
tells him not to TOUCH her. Leo calmly says he saw the look she gave
Trey and she can't blame him for this -- it isn't HIS fault. He knows
she doesn't trust Trey, but -- Greenlee: "Oh, but now you DO?" Leo
says yes, now that he's gotten to know him a little bit. Greenlee
mirthlessly smiles and says that's just ... adorable. Leo reminds her
that she was the one that TOLD him to make a decision about how he
feels about Trey. She says that was BEFORE he messed up her plans.
Leo: "Do you have any idea how SELF-CENTERED that sounds?" Greenlee:
"Of COURSE it is. I'm self-centered. I'm Greenlee Smythe and my
world revolves around ME and MY world, and *I* revolve around YOU!"
[Now WAIT minute! Last week I mentioned that the view from the
penthouse appeared to have changed to include a skyline. Now it's
back to windows across the street. Do they have two sets of living
room windows that I didn't quite catch?] He says that's RIGHT, but
she cuts him off, saying he's the real center of her universe and he
LIKES it that way! He agrees that he LOVES it -- MOST of the time.
She says now he's choosing THEM over HER! He yells that he's not
choosing ANYBODY! Greenlee snaps: "WRONG ANSWER! You're supposed to
say you choose ME, you big JERK!" Calming down, Leo says this isn't a
CONTEST. She says it IS -- and if he can't choose HER over that bunch
of psych ward REJECTS he calls a family, then he should BE with them!
Leo protests the unfairness of her saying that. She says he obviously
doesn't care about HER! Leo yells: "How can you SAY that?
EVERYTHING that I DO is for you!" Greenlee: "Well, then do one more
thing for me and leave me alone!" Leo throws up his hands and yells:
"FINE! GLADLY!" He stomps toward the door. Greenlee: "GO! Go
ahead!" Leo: "I am!" Greenlee: "Go be with your arsonist brother!"
The door slams. Greenlee continues: "Don't come CRYING back to me
when you find out he burned down Erica's house! Leo slowly comes back
into the room and says: "What did you just say?" Greenlee worriedly
stares at him.
Down in Trey's loft [I KNOW it's downstairs from Greenlee's place, but
it's referred to as a loft -- aren't lofts, by definition, on the top
floor? If so, how can there be a penthouse on top of the lofts?]
Maggie asks Trey what's wrong. Trey says Leo totally blew him away
when he told Greenlee he couldn't go to Paris because David NEEDED
him. Maggie: "Talk about BONDING." Trey says it really throws him
that someone could DO that. Maggie agrees, especially Leo -- she
always thought his main investment in life was ... LEO. Trey says
that was HIS take. Maggie says Bianca is really close with him and
she's always said if he believes in you, then he will TOTALLY go to
the mat for you. Maybe she's right. Trey can see it. He's told so
many lies that he expected Leo to completely shut him out, but they
pulled together, found Vanessa's stash, got smashed." She says that
sounds like second chances. He asks if she will also give him a
second chance. She stares at him, uncertain.
Greenlee tells Leo that TREY is the one who set the fire at Erica's
house. Leo shakes his head like he's trying to dislodge some water
from his ears and says: "WHAT?" He thinks she's just blaming Trey to
get even with him over not going to Paris. She says she's not -- he
did it to get Chris's Proteus files and cover his tracks. He still
doesn't believe it. She says Trey then stole Kendall's lighter to
make it look like SHE did it. Leo focuses on the word KENDALL. He
suggests that Greenlee has been spending a little too much time with
her if she thinks Kendall makes sense about ANYTHING. Greenlee cuts
her eyes in disgust that he would think that. She turns and walks a
few steps away as poignant music plays. Leo walks over and apologizes
for saying that. He caresses her shoulders. She asks if he realizes
that this is their first fight as a married couple. [Now I realize
that she IS standing in front of windows on the other side of the
living room that has a different view]. He says it had to happen
SOMEtime. She says no, it DIDN'T -- she's been trying SO hard to be
nice to that CREW he calls a family and had SWORN to herself that she
and Leo wouldn't fight about it -- and it would have worked if they
had gone to Paris today like they were supposed to. He says he
explained about that. She hates that he has somehow become the
caretaker of his whole dysfunctional clan. She whines that he said
they would go as soon as he was free and now he's FREE. She has a job
in Paris and NOTHING is keeping them here. Greenlee: "My God, what
HAPPENED to you?" He says he hasn't changed. She disagrees, pointing
out that he was formerly this romantic, adventurous guy and now he
caters to his nut-job family instead of her. He says it's not THEIR
fault. She agrees -- it's HIS fault. He should be ALL hers! He says
he IS and always WILL be. He says he just wants to BE there for them.
Greenlee: "Well, I don't want to stick around Pine Valley while you
do it." He quietly tells her that she's not being fair. Greenlee:
"*I'm* not being fair? You promised me Paris. You promised me street
musicians and croissants." Leo: "I know. I know, and that's what
you're going to have and more!" Greenlee: "I want it all NOW!" He
asks her to be reasonable. She says she CAN'T -- if she's reasonable,
they'll never get out of there. He says that's not true. Greenlee:
"It's up to you, Leo. What are we going to do? Do we go now or
NEVER?" After some silence, Leo says: "It can't be now." Greenlee
nods and says: "Then it's NEVER." She leaves, slamming the door
behind her. Leo stands and stares at nothing.
PART 2
TREY'S LOFT
[Thank you, Tante Joan, for letting us know the definition of "loft"
(not necessarily on top, just large open space previously used for
commercial purposes.] Maggie and Trey discuss whether or not she'll
support him considering HIS legal troubles. She says no one
understands wanting to get back at Vanessa more than SHE does. He
asks if she's saying her support is conditional based on what he did,
rather than why he did it. She assures him that she has his back
covered. Leo knocks at the door and displays a backpack containing
the late, great Com-Ron-Co stock. He invites them to come with to
hand it over to the DA. Maggie asks about Greenlee -- isn't she in on
it? Leo steps in and says this is ALL about Greenlee and keeping his
promises to her. Trey asks Maggie if she's going with them, but she
promised to help out at the hospital. They'll give her a lift,
though. In an odd move, while she says she has to go to the hospital,
Leo reaches down and does something to her cheek or ear. He was
either wiping something off, or making an affectionate tickle to
reward her for her hospital work. I think he was adjusting her
earring. Hard to say, but she grinned and fiddled with something and
wiggled in delight over it. They all depart with the booty.
ANNA'S OFFICE
[I think they just don't want to make a set for Jackson's office
anymore, so they just have him constantly drop in at the PVPD to use
Anna's office.] Kendall again tries to leave and Jackson again
physically hauls her back. Chris says he needs proof and Kendall
hasn't provided it. Kendall says that Simone saw BURN MARKS on Trey's
arm after the fire. Chris says maybe he burned himself on the stove
or a hot water pipe from the shower. She says that Trey followed
Greenlee and Leo to Paris. Chris says it was a coincidence. Kendall:
"Well, then how about you look at every damn move the guy has made
since he came here pretending to be somebody he's not?" Chris wants
proof that Trey took her lighter. She says she can't actually do
that. She CAN testify that he was in the room at the station where
they put her personal belongings and he could have stolen it. [Why
would anyone wear a blouse like Kendall's when it even makes HER look
like she has a spare tire (albeit and mini-spare)?] Chris tells
Jackson to splain things to Kendall about the way things work.
Jackson tells her that she's been convicted of perjury, and any decent
defense attorney will put her on the stand and tear her to SHREDS.
Kendall: "No, they can't keep holding that against me!" [She has so
many things being held against her that I'm surprised she can even
breathe.] Chris yells that it's PART of her LIFE now. She keeps
yelling that it's not FAIR! He yells that ANY defense attorney will
tear her apart and she doesn't have a shred of evidence to back her
up. Kendall realizes that Trey KNEW that and so chose the PERFECT
victim. Chris: "YOU, a VICTIM?" Kendall: "Yeah, ME, a VICTIM.
There is not one person in this town who will believe me. They all
still think I set the fire, even though your precious St. Erica
FINALLY came forward and admitted that I didn't do it!" Chris picks
up on the word "FINALLY" and asks if Kendall is expecting an APOLOGY.
She says no, she's expecting him to do his damn JOB and go get Trey.
He again cites lack of evidence. She yells that it's OUT THERE --
he'll find it. When he does, she wants him to arrest that two-faced
liar and THEN she'll expect an apology.
Jackson again hammers home the point that evidence is needed. Kendall
says fine, if that's what it takes, she'll GET it. She explains that
she's been living with Trey for a while now and is trying to gain his
trust. There is much bickering and talking over each other about her
trying to find the missing files and the possibility of her getting
into danger in the process. Jackson says he doesn't want her tipping
Trey off. Kendall: "I can take care of myself." Chris: "THAT'S an
understatement." Jack walks around to the desk to answer the phone
while Chris and Kendall glare at each other. She asks Chris if he's
EVER going to just LAY OFF. Jackson tells them BOTH to lay off each
other for a second. Someone on the phone informs him that Leo and
Trey are both on their way in. Kendall panics about getting out of
there so Trey doesn't find out what she just told them. Chris holds
the door to keep her from opening it and says that Trey WON'T find out
and they'll handle it. Kendall crosses her arms and says: "Oh,
THAT'S reassuring." Jackson says she's right -- they don't want to
tip off Trey. Trey has no real connections to the town and if he
suspects something, he could be gone by morning. [Don't be silly --
he could be in Europe within 5-10 MINUTES] Leo and Trey burst into
the room [because no one ever knocks on a closed office door].
Kendall whirls, assesses the situation and quickly turns viciously on
Chris, demanding: "WHAT IS YOUR DAMN PROBLEM? I TOLD YOU TO JUST
LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!" The brothers stare, Leo perplexed, Trey
assessing.
CHANDLER HOUSE
Anna leans against the doorjamb to the patio and heaves heavy sighs.
Liza walks up and hands her a CD, saying that David said it was his
research material. She said David gave it to her, and then when he
knew the police had connected him with Liza, he wanted it back. She
also hands over a vial. She says he was desperate to keep the police
from finding it. Liza doesn't know what's in the vial, just that
David said its contents could put him jail, and her WITH him. Anna
tells her not to worry about THAT -- she guarantees Liza will not go
to jail over it. She bags the vial to hand over to Forensics and
tells Liza that it probably IS enough to put David away. She thanks
Liza and heads toward the door where, super-predictably, David is
standing, about to knock. They stare at each other. He looks down
and sees the vial in the plastic bag. Anna looks slightly shifty-
eyed.
The camera focuses on the still-blank evidence form in the bag, then
back up to David. He huffs out a mirthless chuckle and bites his lip,
Mateo-style, then accuses Liza: "You gave that to Anna. Are you
REALLY sure you want to DO that, Liza?" Liza doesn't answer. Anna
asks for a moment alone with David. Liza: "Gladly." She walks away.
David and Anna go into the living room. David: I hope you don't think
that Liza's an innocent bystander. She financed my research. She was
instrumental --" Anna: "She's cooperating with us now, as a good
member of the community should. Not that YOU'D know anything about
that." David haughtily says: "I've done more for my community than
Liza Chandler will EVER do. I've saved people's LIVES." Anna rolls
her eyes and says it always comes down to that for him and it
justifies everything, doesn't it? David: "You're damn right it
does." She asks if he honestly BELIEVES that he can ruin people and
break the rules and play God. David: "If I have to." He launches
into his usual litany about saving Maria's life. What do you think I
was doing that night when I found Maria? She says she thinks he was
using an untested drug. He says she'll never prove that. Anna: "Is
that a denial or a confession?" He says she doesn't know what she's
talking about and is trying to take the fact that he kept Maria alive
and use it against him. David: "If you can live with yourself for
that, Anna --" Anna: "No, any trouble you are in, YOU got there on
your OWN." David: "NO, YOU are doing this to me. The MOTHER of my
CHILD." [Oh, would someone PLEASE just shove a dirty jockstrap in his
mouth?] Anna: "Oh, please!" He reiterates that he NEVER betrayed
HER. She orders him not to turn this back on HER! David: "This IS
on you! YOU want to destroy my LIFE! YOU want to keep me from
healing another person!" He says she's creating this whole thing
because of some vendetta she suddenly has. Anna: "This isn't about
YOU." David: "BULL!" Anna: "Oh, right. Of course, I forgot. It
is ALWAYS about YOU!" David: "You MADE this about me!" Anna: "No,
YOU did. You ALWAYS do. This isn't about ME or the LAW or even our
CHILD. It's ALWAYS, ALWAYS all about YOU!" He nods in futility and
presses his lips together.
They walk out onto the patio, Anna still gripping the plastic bag [she
might want to consider shoving it down her pants or something to make
it at least SLIGHTLY more difficult for him to wrestle it from her].
David insists this isn't about him, it's about THEM. He tries to reel
her back in, noting that they've always said they are EXACTLY the same
and have the GUTS to be willing to bend or break the rules if need be.
Anna: "Don't you mean the ARROGANCE?" David: "Ok. All right. So
we're ARROGANT! So was Jonas Salk and Marie Curie!" Anna: "You're
comparing yourself to them?" David: "I'm saying that the world NEEDS
their kind of arrogance -- AND ours!" She wants no part of it and
walks back into the room while he follows. He says that she USED to
understand that there were exceptions to the rules and THAT'S why they
fell in love with each other! She says things have changed -- SHE'S
changed. Anna: "I'm no longer the same IDIOT that used to think it
was so CUTE when you found legal loopholes." He says she LOVED him
being a challenge. She says "loved" is PAST TENSE -- there's too much
at stake now. David ridicules her: "What? So what are you saying?
What, you want a BORING little life now? Safety first? What, seat
belts and life insurance?" [You'd think those would be two things HE
would INSIST upon.] She says she DOES. She is just OVER playing
backup for him. He doesn't believe it. She tells him to believe it -
- because SHE has to face that she fell in love with the WRONG man.
His head whips around and he says he is NOT the wrong man for her
[he's the wrong man for EVEYRONE]. She says he IS -- and not just
because he keeps breaking the rules. Frustrated he yells at her to
stop going on about the DAMN RULES! She says he used that drug on
Maria. He yells YES, and she's ALIVE because of it! Starting to lose
it, Anna says he used a human being as a lab rat and he's lucky he
didn't KILL her! He insists that luck had nothing to do with it -- he
knew EXACTLY what he was doing. She says maybe so, but what about
what he did AFTERWARDS? They go around some more about
Maria/kids/husband/grieving, etc. David points out that Edmund was
about to marry someone ELSE and that Brooke would have been a
wonderful mother for those kids [which shows you right THERE how
warped his values are]. Anna says Brooke wouldn't HAVE to be their
mother if Maria had come BACK earlier. David asks WHY -- so she could
TORTURE them like she's doing now? THAT is why he didn't tell her
about them! Anna: "Oh, so you were just thinking about THEM? You
did this all for THEM? WHAT would we do without you, David?" David
pleads with her, saying Maria doesn't remember ANYTHING and that the
kids are going through all this pain for NOTHING because she'll NEVER
get her memory back! She asks how he knows THAT. He says chances are
much greater that her memory loss will be permanent. [DIXIE didn't
lose her memory (not that she had much to begin with)] She says that,
even so, it was NOT his choice to make. He sighs heavily and asks if
he should have taken Maria to the hospital instead -- of course, she
would be DEAD now, but at least he wouldn't be in this trouble, right?
Is that what SHE would have done. Having wandered across the room
from him now, she whines at him to stop turning this back on HER. SHE
would have HELPED Maria BACK into her life. Realizing what he's
doing, she tells him to stop trying to suck her back in. He runs
around the couch to her and says that's what he wants to HEAR. David:
"You're saying that you would have DESTROYED yourself, you would have
given away the GIFT that you were given to save another person's
life?" Anna jabs her finger at him and passionately says: "I am
SAYING that you should have SAVED her, and RETURNED her, and SUFFERED
the consequences! THAT'S what you should have done!" He says that
then he and she would never have met and she wouldn't be carrying his
child -- THOSE are the consequences! She tears up and says: "Oh!"
Snapping back to the moment, she picks up the evidence bag [why did
she put it DOWN in the first place?] and says she's taking it to
Forensics. If there is anything in it that implicates him in any way,
she will find him and arrest him, and there is nothing that he can say
that will stop her. She tries to step away, but he blocks her path,
saying he can't let her do that -- she CAN'T take that bag. She
glares at him.
BOATHOUSE
Greenlee paces and stares grimly at the water. She's actually wearing
a trenchcoat in a nod to the fact that it's nearly October. She picks
up a small cup-like candleholder and whispers that it was THEIRS --
from their wedding. Her face crumples and she cries.
PVPD
Chris is a little slow on the uptake, but Kendall yells at him for
constantly dragging her in there to ask her BOGUS questions. She
threatens to sic her lawyer (pointing to Trey) on him to sue for
harassment if this keeps up! Chris seems to get it now, as does
Jackson, who feebly asks her to calm down. He tells Chris that if he
doesn't have anything on her, he has to let her go. Chris tells her
to sit down and he'll THINK about it. The boys just stare. Leo takes
the moment of silence as an opportunity to say he's there to keep up
his end of their deal about turning over Vanessa's Proteus stash.
With a flourish, he dumps out all the stock certificates on the desk.
Jack is dismayed to find that Vanessa put $10,000,000 into a stock
that's now in the toilet. Trey points out that it's worth about $28
now. Jack shakes his head. Leo says he knows they were expecting
something a little more spectacular, but they DID have a bargain and
he kept his end of it, so how about his freedom? Jackson says he has
it. He shakes his hand and wishes him good luck. Leo thanks him, is
about to say more, but decides to cut his losses and hightail it out
of there before anything ELSE happens. [No verifying the evidence?
They could have printed the stocks out on a laser printer for all Jack
and Chris know! What about the strongbox the certificates were in.
How about fingerprints? How about a half hour to check and see WHO
bought the stocks?] Leo yells in triumph and takes off, but Chris
tells Trey that they still have a few questions for HIM. [Now I see
that there IS a brick/cinderblock wall on the other side of the door
to the office, but it seems to have expanded to a busy hallway since
the beginning of the show, rather than a narrow passageway that only
Kendall could hope to walk through, assuming she crabwalks sideways.]
BOATHOUSE
Greenlee sits and sniffles over her deteriorating marriage. She is
startled to see Leo walk up to the outside of the bench. She asks how
he knew she was there. He says he didn't know, he just FELT it. He
pets her hair and gently says: "Greenlee, what you said earlier about
not knowing who I am --" Greenlee: "I shouldn't have." Leo: "You
know who I am. I'm the guy who loves you more than anything or anyone
he's ever known." Tears drip; as Greenlee wipes them away, he walks
into the boathouse to sit across from her. He looks deeply into her
eyes and says: "And I'm the guy who wants our first fight to be our
LAST. Greenlee, I LOVE being the center of your world, and I want
more than anything for you to be the center of MINE -- FOREVER." She
launches herself into his arms and they hug [does this mean more
makeup sex in a rowboat?]
PVPD
Trey stares at Kendall, who shrugs to indicate that she has no IDEA
why they want to talk to him. He asks what more they want from them.
They BROUGHT them the stock, so what else do they want? Jack points
out that that was LEO'S deal. Chris wants to know why TREY would want
to bring the stock back. Trey says he's a good citizen and it was the
right thing to do! Chris says he's watched Trey's work, and he's not
bad at it. Trey thanks him. Chris continues: "So you must
understand, then, what you've just done to Vanessa. I mean, you've
turned over evidence that implicates your client in some serious
crimes. And I'm just wondering why." [Why would they discuss this in
front of KENDALL?] Kendall stands up next to Chris to horn in, but
doesn't say anything. Trey looks trapped, then says he has a
confession to make. Everyone looks expectantly at him.
CHANDLER HOUSE
Anna coldly warns David to get out of her way or she'll take him in
for obstructing a police investigation. As if speaking to a child, he
says he already TOLD her -- he CAN'T let her take that. Matching his
attitude in the chess game, she asks what he's going to do. Anna:
"Are you going to HIT me? I'm carrying your CHILD." David: "I'm
aware of that." Tearing up, but standing her ground Anna calmly says:
"So this EVIDENCE is more important to you than ME or your CHILD?"
David: "Anna, give me the bag." Anna tears up even more and shakes
her head over and over, saying: "I can't do that." She turns away
from him. David takes a step toward her and says: "I'm sorry to hear
that." Anna whips around, simultaneously pulling out her gun and
pointing it at him. David: "You know you're not going to use that on
me." Anna: "Are you SURE? You REALLY sure?" She keeps the gun on
him while he ponders his predicament.

Frank tells Simone: "YOU are going to have the NIGHT of your LIFE. I
promise."
Trey asks Jackson: "You really think we can work something out?"
Jack: "Oh, I'm CERTAIN we can come to a JUST solution."
Leo asks a tearful Greenlee: "Do you want us to go to Paris or not?"
Anna lies unconscious on the floor.
