All things considered, why hasn't the media horde descended upon the Pine Cone Motel to dog Maria's every move? They were all gathered outside Edmund's front door, despite "beefed up security", but they can't get to the Pine Cone parking lot?

Why does Brooke have to keep coming over at Maddie's beck and call? Doesn't EDMUND ever go up to see his kids?
