PREVIOUSLY ON ALL MY CHILDREN

Just before Kendall takes a lie detector test, Trey asks her: "Would you like a glass of water?" Kendall: "Yeah. Thanks." Trey pours several drops of something into her glass and hands it to her, saying: "Take a sip of water and tell the truth."

Mary muses aloud: "My daughter is marrying a gigolo whose mother is a criminally insane drug trafficker."

At Oakhaven, Vanessa tells Leo: "You will talk to the Count over my very dead body."

A doctor tells Hayley and Mateo: "Your son is approaching liver failure. Ultimately, we will have to do a transplant."

CINDERBLOCK ROOM (Old Community Center set)

Kendall is failing a lie detector test and protesting her innocence. Trey says the results are inadmissible and the test proves nothing. [Why is Jackson even THERE? If TREY arranged it, he could do it privately. Of course, then there would be no story.] As the wands on the detector swing wildly over the rolling paper, even Jackson says that if he were Kendall's lawyer, he'd tell her to shut her mouth. Trey tsk-tsks Kendall about not passing the test. She continues to protest, blaming the machine. Trey gets up and pours the drugged water into a potted plant [which immediately requests a bag of Fritos and some Dr. Pepper]. As Kendall goes on an on, Trey watches with his patented smirk, his jaw working continuously in appreciation of his evil cleverness. [Actually, it seems almost impossible for him to have done this to such a degree without it showing elsewhere on his face -- I think there was some lighting trick shadowing his jaw in a rolling motion.]

Kendall keeps yelling and protesting her innocence (insert that description every 3 seconds as you read this -- it will save me a lot typing). She jabs Trey and tells him to DO something! He says he's sorry, but he really THOUGHT she was telling the truth. She rips off some of the wiring and says she IS telling the truth and it's up to HIM to help her. HE has to prove the machine is lying. HE has to take the test! She orders the guy in the bad toupee (Mike) to hook Trey up.

Trey apologizes to Jackson and the tester for his traumatized client's behavior. He starts to offer advice, but Kendall cuts him off, saying that she took his advice LAST time, and now everybody thinks she's a liar [now, now -- everybody thought that LONG before you took the test] Trey advises her that, from here on out, the less she says about the case the better. She says she doesn't give a damn about her case; she just wants RYAN to know that the machine is whacked and that she's telling the truth. She orders Trey to take the test. Ryan says he's with Kendall on this one. Trey protests. Jackson says he's willing to humor his client in this case. Trey fights it, but Kendall is practically frothing at the mouth in her insistence that he take it now, as her LAWYER. She shoves him into the seat. Trey looks trapped and very unhappy.

PV HOSPITAL

Talking on a pay phone, Mateo says goodbye to Trevor after telling him about Enzo's condition. Mateo paces and broods. Brooke and Edmund rush up and ask what's wrong. Mateo tells them that Enzo is sick and he needs their help.

Mateo fills Brooke and Edmund in on Enzo's grave condition and his need of a transplant. Edmund promises that they'll be there as long as he needs them. Brooke asks about Hayley. He says Hayley was by Enzo's side all day, but now that he's nodded off, she went to catch an AA meeting. [Man, this day just FLEW by! I thought it was MORNING.] Mateo looks up at Edmund, presses his lips tightly together, then gets up to pace some more. Clearly he wants to say something to Edmund, but finds it hard to do. Edmund asks what happens now. Mateo says they need to find a donor, but it's complicated. Brooke concurs, having been through it with Laura. He explains that the difference is that Enzo can receive a living transplant. Edmund further informs Brooke (and us) that the piece the patient gets eventually grows into an entire liver. Brooke thinks this is good news. Mateo agrees, but says there is not enough time to find a compatible donor. He and Hayley are not matches. Brooke hates to bring it up, but what about Arlene? He says Trevor is going to try to track her down, but adds that Arlene's liver has got to be about 200% proof -- do they really want THAT? Edmund reminds Mateo that he wanted to ask them a favor and offers all of Tempo's resources. Brooke says that she contacted a lot of donor banks when Laura was sick, so there's that, too. Mateo hesitates, then says he has a bigger favor to ask. They gladly offer to be tested. He says Enzo's best chances are for a donation from someone he's directly related to -- like Maddie. Edmund looks stunned when Mateo asks if he'll allow her to be tested.

GREENLEE'S PENTHOUSE

Greenlee lets Mary into the loft. Mary assures her that her migraine is gone and apologizes for leaving so abruptly the night before. In fact, she's sorry about a lot of things. Greenlee says she's just glad she's there. Mary says she's short-changed Greenlee in the mothering department. Greenlee doesn't know what to say. Mary says a girl needs her mother and for once in her life, that's EXACTLY what she wants to be -- if Greenlee will let her. Greenlee stares at her with disbelief at this wonderful change of attitude, then walks over to thank her. Mary says it's her DUTY to do things for Greenlee that she can't do for herself, no matter how difficult or unpleasant it may be. Greenlee is perplexed. Mary confidently tells her that she's going to get her out of this DISASTROUS engagement, and Greenlee won't have to lift a finger! Greenlee does not look pleased.

Greenlee says she's NOT going to call off her engagement. Mary airily says of course not -- SHE'LL do it. Greenlee doesn't want that. Mary says that Greenlee complains that she's not involved in her life, and now she's trying to help her get out of this travesty of an engagement and she doesn't want her help! She knows Greenlee THINKS she has a bright and cloudless future with Leo, but she's WRONG. She thought that, too, when she was even younger than Greenlee. She married a totally unacceptable man, Roger, just to spite her parents. He filled HER head with romantic notions, too. Greenlee insists she's marrying Leo because she LOVES him. Mary says: "NOOOOO! You're marrying Leo because you hate ME!" Greenlee looks perplexed.

Greenlee insists that she doesn't HATE Mary -- all she's ever wanted was for Mary to NOTICE her. Mary says she's ALWAYS accused her of being a bad mother, and she was RIGHT. Didn't she ever wonder WHY? Greenlee says yes, but why would she want her to cancel her wedding? Mary sits her down and asks: "Greenlee, why would a woman keep her sweet, beautiful daughter at arm's length her entire life?" Greenlee: "What?" Mary: "It was ME -- it wasn't YOU! I had ruined my life, and therefore I was incapable of showing love to anyone, and that MUST not happen to YOU!" Greenlee insists that it won't -- she LOVES Leo! Mary says she's just like her father -- she cannot resist a challenge, no matter HOW inappropriate it may be! Greenlee says this is news to her -- until last year, she thought Mary and Roger were deliriously happy. Mary says that's because she kept it hidden, but Greenlee's going to be in everybody's face about this -- she's marrying the son of a DRUG LORD! Greenlee exclaims that it all makes sense now -- Mary isn't afraid that Greenlee will be unhappy -- she's afraid she'll EMBARASS her! Mary: "Am I supposed to let you make a spectacle of yourself just to prove that I'm a good MOTHER?" Greenlee hardens and spits out: "You know, I should've KNOWN. I was so happy you were coming to my wedding!" Mary: "I was happy, too, until I made a couple of phone calls and found out that my future son-in-law was a well-known, well-traveled gigolo." Greenlee tears up and hoarsely says: "You -- you've said that 150 times since you arrived! And I told you I don't care about his distant past! She gets up and walks a few steps away, wiping away potential tears. Mary jumps up and accuses Greenlee of not caring about Leo's many incarcerations or impending charges. Greenlee says there's a REASON for that! Mary waves it away, saying: "Yes, of course there is -- because he was trying to get his sweet, homicidal mother out of an insane asylum!" Greenlee hisses: "He did it for his brother!" Mary feigns a fleeting headache at the thought of THAT: "Oh, his brother. Right. That's the mad doctor who poisons people on boats--" Greenlee says that that is ENOUGH! She and Leo are going to get married and live happily ever after -- if Mary can't accept that, she can just go back to Europe and they will have the wedding without her! Mary nods and they stare at each other.

OAKHAVEN

There are quite a few charcoal sketches on the wall -- VERY good sketches. I recognize sketches of Greenlee and (I think) Leo -- there is something covering Leo's mouth in that one. Leo carefully sits on the end of the bed. It must be the later or the next day, because the silver stars are missing from Vanessa's nipples, hair and face now. Leo takes her jaw in his hands, looks into her eyes and asks if they are clear that she is VANESSA right now -- all her little friends are locked down for the evening, right? [again, I thought it was MORNING] She sighs and says: "Mother's listening." He holds up a piece of paper with Count du Pres' (little "d", big "P") address on it. She is momentarily taken aback, then asks if he's planning to invite the Count to the wedding, because he WON'T come. Leo says that he's through listening to Vanessa's version of his life. He's going to find the Count before the wedding -- he's finally going to meet his father. Vanessa loses her feigned cool and jumps up, yelling that he can't do that! She calms a little and says he'll just open himself up for more heartache. Leo asks why -- what harm would it do NOW? She admits she's lied to him all her life -- the Count is NOT his father. Leo gives her a leveling look.

Leo says she wasn't lying THEN, she's lying NOW. She tells him not to carry on like he's his brother -- he doesn't even KNOW the man! He agrees, but says that she made sure he knew all ABOUT him. She says not all little boys need a daddy. He points out that she kept telling him all about Count du Pres and even had a scrapbook with photos of him playing polo, at the opera, meeting with the pope, etc. She's amazed he remembers all that. He says he remembers EVERYTHING. For instance, how the Count was wealthy, titled and had a REAL family and how they were never, EVER supposed to meet him, because the scandal would ruin him. Leo's arms are now crossed so tightly that he appears to be in a straight-jacket of his own making. Vanessa rolls her eyes and says: "Oh, God, this is a plot from a bad Lana Turner movie!" Leo is SHOCKED. Did she make it all up? Did she even KNOW the guy? She huffs and puffs and throws up her arms, temporarily at a loss for words, then agitatedly asks if it really matters. Leo asks WHY she would choose Count du Pres. She sputters briefly, then juts out her chin and brazenly says: "Because I liked the little "d" and the big "P"!" [ROTFLMAO!] She laughs and asks him not to be so ungrateful -- he liked her fiction when he was a little boy. He IS a grown man now, though, and he deserves to know the truth. He agrees and asks who is his REAL father. She resists and he scoffs: "You don't REMEMBER?" Of COURSE she does, but what's the point? Why would he even believe her now? Leo: "Try me." She feigns tiredness and lies back on her bed, asking him to come back tomorrow. He jeers at her attempt to stall for time to rehearse her story. He says he's a little harder audience than when he was SIX, so TELL him! She fiddles with her neck and beseeches him, telling him he'll be sorry. He throws up a hand and says forget it -- he'll stand a better chance with the Count. He starts to leave, but she yells for him to stop. She'll tell him who his father is.

Leo taunts her, trying to get her to tell him who his father is. She stalls some more, saying he won't believe it. After a lot of hemming and hawing, she dramatically says that his father is .... wait for it ... FRANK SINATRA! Leo rolls his eyes and turns. Vanessa: "Noo! Fidel Castro! Elvis. Elvis. No. LIBERACE. No, really! There was a time in his life when --" Leo sits on the bed and grabs her neck in one hand, saying he could KILL her right now! He shakes her, then pushes her away, very believably gritting his teeth and saying he's so angry he could KILL her and not even think TWICE about it. She says yes, he could -- but at least he knows who his MOTHER is. Breathing hard through his nose, he tells her that she's going to PAY for doing this to him. She begs him not to go away angry. She PROMISES to tell him EVERYTHING when she's safely out of there, because she's just not herself while she's there. They'll be sitting on a beach in St. Tropez, sipping Mai Tais, and then she'll tell him the WHOLE truth and it will be WORTH waiting for. Leo storms out. Vanessa looks thoughtful.

PV HOSPITAL

Edmund reels from Mateo's request. Mateo says she'll completely heal, and there won't be any lasting effects [except for that big old scar]. Edmund says that Maddie is just so YOUNG! Mateo desperately: "So is ENZO!" Brooke is wearing a white blouse and gold skirt. The combination is EXTREMELY unflattering to her short-waisted body type. The blouse is all bunched up in the back and it just makes it look like she's being squashed. [Having a similar body type, I remember the many similar outfits I have worn over the years and shudder to think that I looked like that (and I KNOW I must have).] She says Maddie might not even be a match. Edmund has wandered a few steps away to ponder the request. Mateo says he knows that, but can they at least TEST her and then figure that stuff out later? Edmund rubs his eyes and says he'll check her blood type. He holds up a hand to indicate that that's all he can do for now and not to ask anything else. He also wants to check out transplant procedure before making a commitment. Mateo apologizes and says he doesn't even know WHAT he would do if someone were to ask the same of him. He would think of Enzo first; he knows he's asking the impossible. He looks at his sick child in there, though, and he just HAS to ask -- he HAS to! Brooke says it's okay. When Laura was sick, her getting better was all that Brooke could think about, and she was waiting for someone to DIE so that Laura's life could be saved -- she KNOWS it's a horrible feeling. They UNDERSTAND. Mateo assures Edmund that he and Hayley LOVE Maddie and would never, EVER do anything to harm her. Edmund reassures Mateo, saying that he knows that. Mateo keeps apologizing. Edmund pats him on the back.

Joe walks out of Enzo's room and says he assumes Mateo has filled them in on Enzo's condition. Edmund says yes, and that he wants to talk to him about Maddie and transplant procedures. Joe explains that Maddie is too young -- donors MUST be over 18; those are the rules. Mateo freaks out, saying that rules out Enzo's brother Max and (second) cousin Amanda! Joe insists that rules are rules. Mateo says he's been WAITING to call all these people and no one told him that BEFORE! Joe says that if Dr. Conway didn't give him all the information, then he can. Mateo says he HAS he information and all the pamphlets, but all the medical terms are making his eyes cross. Mateo: "Yeah, I got a question. How do I save my son? Can you answer that question, huh?"

Isabella rushes up and hugs him. She assures him that everything is okay -- nothing will hurt Lorenzo -- he's in God's hands! She has brought all the family medical records for them to try to find an answer. Mateo apologizes to Joe for flipping out and Joe brushes it off. Mateo gives Joe the papers and hopes he can find a potential donor in them.

CINDERBLOCK ROOM

Mike starts to put a cuff on a protesting Trey. Trey gasps in pain as the contact rubs his burned forearm (which they can't see under his shirt). Mike apologizes and suggests using the other arm. Trey says to just go ahead and do it. Ryan meaningfully says that Trey freaked out last night when Ryan grabbed his arm -- did he hurt himself? Trey flashes back to being in the Emergency Room and explaining to the doctor that he fell while walking along a retaining wall. Doctor: "Well, that explains the abrasions. What it doesn't explain is the BURN." Back in the moment, Trey says maybe they SHOULD use his other arm -- he strained the left one playing football with some kids. He still thinks this whole thing is a waste of time, and Mike's time isn't cheap. Kendall postures and jerks around, saying it will be worth it to prove that the machine is busted. Mike starts asking mundane questions. Kendall huffs and puffs and tells him to stop wasting time and just ask Trey the same thing he asked her: "Did you set fire to Erica's house?" Trey tells her to let the man do his job, but Jackson thinks it's a good question to start with. Trey answers NO and the needles jump to indicate he's lying. Everyone looks surprised. Trey smirks and shakes his head at the ridiculousness of the whole thing, but looks more than a little worried.

Trey: "Well, hey, hot damn, my client was right! That thing is not working properly." Kendall feels vindicated as she points out that the machine is doing the same to Trey as it did to her. The men (except Trey) are perplexed. Mike insists that the machine is in perfect working order. Kendall ridicules that notion, then turns to Trey and mocks the situation, saying: "Oh, well, then you're GUILTY! I want another lawyer, one who isn't an ARSONIST, because you're going to have to convict Trey of burning down Erica's house even though he doesn't know her or have a motive! But, hey, that machine doesn't make mistakes --" Ryan tries to get her to take it easy, but she's on a roll and goes on and on about them BOTH being guilty together and it being a big conspiracy. Jackson asks if she's about done. He tells Mike to wrap it up as he heads toward the door. Trey tells Jackson to stay -- he's a fair man, isn't he? Why don't they get a little more proof. He thinks he has a way to prove that she was right. Ask him another question -- ask him his name. Jack stonily asks him his name. Trey: "James H. Kenyon III, son of James H. Kenyon Jr." The needle jumps again, proof that the machine is defective. He gloats up at Kendall and looks quite pleased with himself.

Mike asks for another minute. Trey says they've seen enough. Mike says he has a test he can do to make sure the machine is NOT malfunctioning. Kendall sighs melodramatically and says the machine is TOTALLY whacked. Trey tells her that she's not being fair. He nonchalantly stands up and says maybe they should give Mike a chance to work on the machine. He starts to walk away and -- WHOOPS! Since he's still hooked up to the machine (and with a little helping hand trailing across it), it crashes to the floor. He apologizes for being so clumsy. Jackson jabs his finger at Trey and yells that he doesn't know exactly what happened here this morning, but-- [SEE -- EVERYONE else is making a special point of saying that it's nighttime, but Jackson admits it's STILL morning] Jackson: "Listen to me, son! If you're playing games, you play games like this in my courtroom, and you're going to make yourself look like a fool and your client look like a fool, and I will take you DOWNTOWN! You follow me?" [Jackson keeps calling Trey "son" and "sonny", making himself sound like an old geezer] Kendall stares, open-mouthed [closing it is quite a rarity -- now that summer is looming, she should consider closing it occasionally, given all the newly hatched bugs in the air] Jack storms out, telling Mike to leave the mess there. He tosses off a disgusted "What's the MATTER with you?" to Trey on his way out. He slams the door. Trey congratulates Kendall, saying she really got them out of THAT one. Ryan blows up, saying NOBODY deserves CONGRATULATIONS -- Trey BLEW it! Kendall stays quiet, albeit open- mouthed, not wanting to oppose Ryan's view, but clearly agreeing with Trey's sentiment.

PV HOSPITAL

Isabella says that Raquel faxed Max's records, too. For you newer viewers, Raquel is Mateo's first wife and mother to his son, Max. Mateo didn't know about Max, thinking their exceptionally brief marriage had been annulled, which turned out not to be the case. They are on good terms at this point, but things were pretty dicey a couple of years ago when she showed up. Mateo says Max can't be a donor. She says that Mateo's sisters, Rosa and Anita, both agreed to fly in for more testing if they were matches. Joe walks up and apologizes to Isabella, saying that SHE is the only one with Enzo's blood type, but she's been suffering from anemia for some time, so she's not really an appropriate candidate. That's principally for HER protection, not Lorenzo's. She insists she doesn't care about herself -- he's her GRANDSON! She'll do whatever it takes and will sign ANYTHING! He gently tells her that people with risk factors are automatically excluded. Mateo rubs his face and grunts about the stupid RULES that are keeping people from being saved. Isabella turns to him and assures him that she would do ANYTHING for the baby. He assures HER that they wouldn't want anything to happen to her -- ENZO wouldn't want that [actually, he's a baby, he wouldn't care]. Joe tells Mateo that they'll sit down and try to figure out what can be done. Mateo thanks him and Joe walks away.

Edmund says that Joe will do everything he CAN to help. Isabella turns to him and says that Joe is a kind man, but this hospital just isn't the same without MARIA. Mateo says he was thinking the same thing himself. [Every guy in the hospital echoes the sentiment, dreamily thinking of her built-in floatation devices.] Edmund rubs Isabella's arm and says he thinks that every time he walks into the place. Brooke looks momentarily stricken, but then smiles indulgently and lovingly at Edmund. Isabella and Brooke go to the chapel to light a candle.

Mateo frets to Edmund that everything is going AGAINST them! Edmund tries to reassure him that they'll figure it out. Mateo suddenly remembers his sister, Julia, who is in the Witless Protection Program with her lunkheaded (but devastatingly handsome) husband, Noah. Isabella didn't mention HER! He looks at the papers, but can't find Julia's, which means she's still a possibility! He's ebullient at the new hope, but Edmund quickly dashes them, asking him if he really wants to put his sister's life on the line. [YES!] Mateo bites his, lip, thinking as fast as he can.

Mateo says that Stamp knows people in the WPP who can get in contact with Julia. Edmund scratches his head and looks around to make sure nobody in the Mafia is eavesdropping before asking Mateo if he REALLY wants to do that. Mateo says that JULIA would want it, and Chris DID contact her when Enzo was born. Edmund points out that when Julia finds out, she'll take the first plane out, WPP be damned! Mateo quietly says they'll smuggle her in SAFELY. Edmund says everything is a HUGE risk. Mateo says he has to think of Enzo. Edmund thinks for a moment, then hopefully says that Julia was hospitalized there before -- her blood type has to be on record. They can ask Dr. Joe to check it out and if she's a match, get her tested further wherever she is, and THEN take it from there. Mateo is VERY relieved and thinks that's PERFECT! He thanks Edmund for talking him down from the edge [the expression is LEDGE, not EDGE]. They enthusiastically head off to find Joe.

GREENLEE'S PENTHOUSE

Now sitting calmly on the couch, Greenlee asks Mary about some Xs on a floorplan. Mary says they are extra security, given that Vanessa DID threaten to show up at the wedding. Greenlee accuses Mary of finding yet another way to undermine Leo. Mary says Leo is involved with a criminal element -- she's not IMAGINING that. Greenlee says that she is, however, EXAGGERATING it and adds: "Leo leads a perfectly ORDINARY life, ok?" Mary: "Ok." Greenlee: "There is no danger involved at all --" Leo bursts into the apartment, slams the door and pounds on it in a RAGE, yelling: "I've HAD it! If she doesn't tell me where that drug money is, I'm going to ***KILL*** my freakin' mother!" Mary looks up and calmly says: "Are you really?" She turns to Greenlee, raises her eyebrows and meaningfully says: "So, this is a changed man?" Greenlee turns to look appraisingly at Leo.

Leo quickly covers for his outburst, laughing about rap songs getting stuck in one's head. He goes into a routine, dancing over to them, making gang signs and rapping: "Gonna KILL my freakin' mother, gonna KILL my freakin' mother!" Mary cheerfully tells him: "Oh, it's ok. You don't have to pretend with ME. I know how terribly frustrating it must be not to be able to get your hands on your family's drug money." Leo sheepishly bites his knuckles and says he would never actually consider killing ANY freakin' body. Greenlee loudly clears her throat. She informs Mary that Leo is helping the police and FBI find Vanessa's drug money so she can be put away for good and be out of ALL of their lives. Mary thinks that's WONDERFUL -- and it will, no doubt, help reduce the charges against LEO, right? Greenlee stands up and looks at Leo, clearing her throat again. Suddenly the phone rings. It's her assistant, Casey. She clops back into the apartment to discuss business.

Leo fiddles with his watch and tells Mary that Greenlee LOVES her new job at Revlon, and they are CRAZY about her. Mary says that of COURSE they do -- she's smart and talented, which brings to her next question: "Why in the WORLD would you think that you deserve my daughter?" Leo's forced smile starts to waver.

PV HOSPITAL

Brooke walks up to Edmund and Mateo and hands them cups of coffee. A nurse walks up to Mateo and tells him that Julia's bloodtype is not compatible. She says that this will be a long process, and he should be prepared for that. She says she assumes they are waiting for Dr. Conway. Mateo says yes, his son is her patient. He notices that she is holding a bound folder with a cover stating: "The Living Bank" He suspiciously asks if they found a donor there in Pine Valley. She can't give out that information. He pushes her about it and she says that information has to be verified. He gets mad and asks why she can't just TELL him if they found a suitable donor. She explains that until the potential donor is contacted and agrees to the procedure (he chimes in with her at this point): "... not allowed to break RULES, right? You can't break the RULES!" Edmund keeps putting a restraining hand on Mateo's back and shoulders. Mateo says he gives up and gestures the nurse to go off and do what she needs to do. He looks relieved and reassures himself, says: "They found another donor for Enzo."

CINDERBLOCK ROOM

Kendall tells Ryan that it wasn't TREY'S fault that the machine screwed up. Ryan says that Trey was taking a HUGE chance with her FUTURE! Trey apologizes and passive-aggressively says that Ryan may have hired him, but it's up to Kendall to fire him. She reassures him that she doesn't want to fire him and again tells Ryan it's not TREY'S fault. Ryan reluctantly backs off, but begs Trey not to take any more unnecessary risks. Trey says they don't have a lot to work with right now, not even a successful polygraph (like that was the ONLY lie- detecting device in the known world). He tells Kendall they'll be in touch to discuss strategy, then leaves. [He DOES has a NICE ass!]

Kendall thanks Ryan for standing up for her, but defends Trey. She knows how it must have looked to Ryan to walk in and see the machine go off the chart like that. Ryan says he doesn't really care about the machine and to just drop it. She says that at least they proved that the machine was broken. She keeps fiddling with her hair and face. She realizes that she feels sick, like she has a hangover or something. She wants to just go home. She tells him he was right about this plan blowing up in her face, but at least it didn't prove her a liar, right? Ryan: "Well -- well, I don't know. I mean, I don't know if the machine can handle somebody as INCAPABLE of telling the truth." She doesn't get it -- why is he so mad at her? He says she was telling the truth about the arson charges, but what about the Breaking and Entering? Kendall pulls back, saying: "ExCUSE me?" He asks why she didn't tell him about breaking into Erica's house.

GREENLEE'S PENTHOUSE

Leo tells Mary that if she thinks Greenlee can do better, then they're in agreement, but Greenlee happens to WANT him, so they don't NEED her approval. She says he's VERY far from it, but she has more to worry about. On MORE than one occasion, Greenlee has been subjected to physical danger because of him. He amiably agrees that she's right AGAIN, but promises to protect Greenlee. She says she's NOT going to take HIS word to the bank. Leo smiles sweetly and says that if she REALLY wants them to disagree about something, she'll have to try harder. She says that if he REALLY wants to win Greenlee, he'll drop the charm, look her straight in the eye and honestly tell her that he REALLY thinks he's really right for Greenlee. Leo sizes her up, drops the charm and says: "Greenlee and I belong with each other. I'll swear on anything that you want me to. I love your daughter more than life itself." Greenlee was about to step into the living room, but stops to overhear, looking slightly alarmed. Mary says that Greenlee has a very bright and promising future with just ONE thing standing in her way. Leo guesses she means him. Mary says that if he REALLY loves Greenlee, he'll do what's best for her and LEAVE her. Greenlee clops back into the room and says: "Mother, you take that back or get out! I don't WANT you at my wedding!" Mary looks chastised, but firm in her conviction.

PV HOSPITAL

Hayley starts to walk up to Enzo's room, but stops to take a fortifying breather first. She recites the AA Serenity prayer: "Oh, God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Please, God, help me!" She takes another deep breath and walks into Enzo's room to see Arlene standing there, holding Enzo in her arms. They stare at each other. Enzo's room must have a back door, because the door Hayley entered is NOT the one Mateo, Edmund and Brooke are hovering near.

Back at the nurses' station, the nurse holds on the phone for Dr. Conway and turns her back, leaving the Donor report on the counter. Mateo broods. Edmund and Brooke hover. Brooke warns Mateo not to do it. Edmund asks Brooke if SHE could wait in Laura's case, just to follow the rules. She admits she couldn't. Mateo says his son's life is in the folder and he's not waiting. He takes the folder and flips pages. The nurse hangs up the phone and bolts around the desk to try and grab it from him. Mateo plays keep-away and refuses to relinquish it and wait for Dr. Conway, so she should just BACK OFF! He flips the page again, then stops, stunned and speechless. The nurse sighs and takes the folder back, telling him that the information would NOT help his son. Mateo tells Brooke and Edmund that the only person in that town that could help his son was ... MARIA. They all sigh at the futility of the idea of Edmund's dead wife, Mateo's sister, donating part of her liver. [Much as I hate to admit it, Mark Consuelos is doing a better job than usual today. I don't know if it's that his acting has improved; it's more that I didn't find him nearly as unwatchable as usual.]

Leo regretfully tells Greenlee: "I think that you should DUMP the garbage that's messed up your life." Greenlee, assuming he means himself as he heads to the door and opens it, protests: "Leo, NOOO!" Leo gestures out the door as he says: "Hit the road, Mary."

At the Valley Inn, Simone tells Roger: "We're OVER, Roger."

At the park, Kendall tells Ryan: "This has nothing to do with Trey. I made a decision to lie to you all on my own."

Arlene flips through some papers as Hayley fearfully asks: "Are you a match, mom?" Arlene slowly looks up.
