Boogie Chillen September 20, 2001 (Thursday)
The old Laura would NEVER have taken Leo's job so lightly! SHE knew what it was like to have to survive, and would never have been SOOOO selfish! Honestly, it's like she was never there in the first place!
Brooke has been a crack journalist for how many decades now? And she STILL doesn't know how to spell or pronounce "mischievous"? I have to admit, though, I sometimes find myself unsure of how to spell words that I used to know flat -- still ...
LOD:
Edmund to Brooke's query about Anna coming home: "Back? She's GONE again. She packed her bags, grabbed Gabriel and moved out of Wildwind." Yes, I know it's not funny, it's just WELCOME news! SHIT, SHIT, SHIT! No sooner do I pause to type the above when her face suddenly fills the entire screen. Damn! But wait -- she's broken into David's room to appease her lust, which worked out well, since he was naked! Now THIS has possibilities!
I think AMC is trying to do some sort of catchup/speedup. I say this because NOW when I skip commercials via my satellite receiver's hard disk, I often only have to press the skip button 5-6 times. I recall posting a while back that they had INCREASED it so that I had usually had to press it 9 times. Interesting. Then they squeezed in a little scene with Brooke saying: "You know, Edmund, sometimes a no-news day is a GOOD news day! You know, just a day. A DAY! A day without war, without casualties without kids dying! Whatever!" Too much of a coincidence to have been taped 2-3 weeks earlier.
Laura reminds Leo that Brooke says he can spot trends 6 months before they happen. Huh? He's only been working there a few days, so how would she know THAT?
Much as Laura DESERVES to have some truth bitch-slapped into her, Leo was pretty harsh telling her that she was nothing but a waste of skin and that her heart was beating but she was just taking up space. I would be DEVASTATED if the man I loved said that to me, no matter HOW self-centered and pitiful I was acting, and I would probably NEVER get over it! All things considered, though, Laura didn't seem NEARLY as upset as you would think. Of course, that was because she was still obsessing about what to do to hold onto HIM and not about what he said.
