Did Myrtle's groping for words at the bar remind anyone else of Bugs Bunny?

I'm confused. Were the tire-screeching noises coming from the car Leo was recklessly driving or from other cars trying not to hit them, because neither Leo nor Laura gave any indication of reaction to brakes being applied or corners being taken too sharply, other than Laura whining about his driving.

Well, unless Leo had condoms in the glove compartment, I'd say Laura is now officially knocked up (not to mention having learned how to handle a stick shift).
