I know Proteus' voice was supposed to sound intimidating, but DAMN it was LOUD! Turning down the volume so it didn't hurt my ears meant I could barely hear Mateo (which is not necessarily a bad thing)!

The only person I can think of that hates Mateo that much (aside from everyone who watched him be so totally nasty to Hayley not that long ago) is Arlene. I don't buy for a SECOND, however, that Arlene could be Proteus. Oh, they may try to write the storyline that way, but there is no way in HELL she has the smarts and, more important, the impulse control, to run a drug ring. I doubt she could ever balance a checkbook, let alone figure out how to launder money other than swishing a few ones around in the bathroom sink with her panties and some Woolite. And she DEFINITELY would have slipped up and called Mateo "Sweetie" at some point. That said, the nuances in the robotic speech CLEARLY point to David. Even if Proteus is NOT David, that IS David's disguised voice to make us THINK it is.
