Friday Update March 2, 2001
PREVIOUSLY ON ALL MY CHILDREN
On the family jet, Edmund says to Dimitri: "This time tomorrow, we'll
be flying home with Alex." Meanwhile, the pilot is on the phone with
someone who says: "Carry out their orders. Let them think they have
the advantage."
In the PV Hospital waiting area, Greenlee snarls at Jake: "You can
take your Hippocratic oath and shove it!" She stands and faints.
Tad shoves his face right up to Leslie's and tries to coerce her into
giving up the goods on David, despite the fact that she's come out of a
coma mere seconds before: "David never tried to save you because he
wanted you dead. I'm right, aren't I?" Leslie: "Hope."
Dumb as Dirt Dixie tells a smirking David: "I want you to spend the
night here with me."
PV HOSPITAL
Jake is standing in the middle of the waiting area with his arms under
Greenlee's armpits, telling her to knock it off and get up. A nurse
comes to help, but Jake tells her not to bother, that Greenlee is fine.
Greenlee doesn't respond. He tells her that just because she took one
acting class in college, he's not going to buy that dead-weight thing.
He sighs and drags her over to a couch, telling her he's NOT going to
fall for this and is unimpressed. Tina rushes in rambling about having
to park the car and asking if Greenlee is all right. She sees
Greenlee's inert body and says: "Oh, no! Did she pass out again?"
Jake: "Again?" Now we see the huge red lump on Greenlee's forehead
(Jake, ER doctor extraordinaire hasn't noticed it until now). He
starts calling her name and slapping her face none-too-gently, and
digging his fingers in perilously close to her wound.
In Leslie's now empty room, Dr. Joe continues to lambaste Tad for his
behavior in Leslie's room (which had resulted in Leslie's heart going
into V-tac). He points out that Leslie only said one word: "Hope"
How does that tie in to incriminating David? Tad says he doesn't know,
but he thinks he knows what Leslie was referring to. Her sister, Pam,
has a middle name of Hope; Leslie was always teasing her about it when
they were younger. They both agree that Pam/Hope should be notified
(Tad will do it). Tad starts to leave, but Joe stops him for a moment,
telling him he has to forget about David and concentrate on saving his
marriage.
Jake has carried Greenlee into an exam room and keeps calling her name.
Greenlee moans a little, starting to come to, and he pulls up her eyelid,
shining a light in her eyes. Tina hovers, asking if she's going to be ok.
He says he thinks so. He tells Greenlee: "Hey, you're a little sleepy,
huh?" Greenlee is still whimpering, but starts to talk: "My quilt ...
with the poodles. Poodle-dee and poodle-dum!" She giggles. Jake:
"Greenlee, do you remember what happened to do and why you're here? Do
you know why you're here?" Greenlee: "I brushed my teeth, Millie."
Tina: "Millie?" Greenlee: "Did Daddy call, Millie?" Jake tells her to
stay awake. Tina asks if she has a concussion and he says she might have,
but he needs to keep her awake. He yells: "Greenlee, you're in the
hospital. Can you hear me?" Greenlee panics: "No! No, I want to keep
my tonsils! Daddy said I could last time I was home!" Jake tells her
she's not getting her tonsils out -- she was hit in the head with a
basketball and might have a concussion. Greenlee thrashes and says:
"Millie's not my Mommy! She can't make me stay here!" Jake says he needs
to get her a CAT scan. He tells Tina to tell them at the desk that he
needs her father's phone number. She's going to call him from Jake's
office. He asks her to hold the door for him as he wheels Greenlee out.
[Considering no one knows she needs a CAT scan but him, it seems a little
premature for him to be wheeling her out, not to mention the fact that the
DOCTOR would not be doing that anyway.] Greenlee whimpers and moans and
calls out that she wants her OWN bed and begs Millie not to make her stay
there.
Tad wrinkles up his face and watches Jake, Greenlee and Tina. He stares
out the emergency doors and checks his watch. Leslie's sister, Pam, comes
in. She's pretty and has dark-blonde hair; amazingly enough, she is NOT
showing massive cleavage and she is NOT pouting prettily. How refreshing!
She looks like a cross between Liza and Sarah. They hug and exchange the
obligatory "You haven't changed a bit". They take a seat and Tad tells
her that Leslie is still in a coma. She thanks him for thinking to call
her. He says she's FAMILY. She hesitates, then tells him that she hasn't
spoken to her sister in years. Tad pulls back a little and apologizes,
saying he had no idea. She says she's GRATEFUL that he called her. He
tells her that Leslie asked for "Hope". Pam is taken aback and says no
one has called her THAT in years -- Leslie was the last holdout and she
only did it because she knew it bugged her. She asks if the police think
Leslie tried to kill herself. Tad says he doesn't think so. She asks if
Leslie was pushed, then. Tad gently says there are a lot of questions
that still need to be answered. She asks how he's involved and he says it
happened where he works, on the terrace right outside his office and he
walked in right after she fell. She elicits from him that Leslie came out
of her coma for just a little bit and he tried to find out from her what
had happened, but Leslie had trouble talking [yeah, because you badgered
her until her heart stopped!] Pam deduces that Tad KNEW her, at least
recently. Tad says he knew her through work and gave her a lot of
Chandler business. Tad asks why she and Leslie haven't spoken to each for
a while. Pam asks if he remembers how Leslie always tried to be like her
when they were in high school. He says yeah, they always thought it was
kind of cute. Pam: "Yeah, well, that cute little trait didn't die down
when she grew up ... I got married 10 years ago, and Leslie was my maid of
honor. It was great. And then I -- I came back from my honeymoon, and
she waited about a week before she tried to seduce my husband. Rich is a
really good guy. He's very patient. But he was beside himself about the
way she was behaving. And when he told me, I kind of lost it. We tried
talking to her, and she just started acting like I was invisible. She had
this heat-seeking thing for Rich, so we finally just had to cut her off.
I mean, COMPLETELY." Tad looks thoughtfully grim.
Tad says he's really sorry and maybe she should see Leslie now and talk to
her. Pam asks why and he says that people at the hospital think people in
comas can hear them. She says she's had a sick feeling about Leslie for
about a month now because she got a package from Leslie. It had a letter
with bizarre "victim" drama queen stuff and Pam thought maybe she was
going to start up about Rich again. Instead, it had a key taped to it and
it stated that if anything ever happened to it, take the key to her office
and they'll find out who is responsible. Pam wonders if she should go now
and find out what Leslie was talking about. Tad continues to frown.
Tad asks Pam if he could have the key and look around Leslie's office.
She asks if he thinks someone pushed Leslie and he says he thinks someone
didn't try as hard as they could to save her. He won't tell her who he
THINKS did it, though. He says he doesn't know ANYTHING. [Hmmm being
more than a little bit less than truthful with Pammy] He says if he can
nose around the office, the note Leslie wrote might make more sense. He
says she can go WITH him [big of him]. She says she should see Leslie
first. He agrees and she starts to cry, saying she never wanted Leslie to
be HURT! He soothes her and says Leslie sent her that letter because she
knew Pam would do right by her. He says Leslie only said one word and it
was HER nickname -- it shows she TRUSTS her. [Maybe Leslie was trying to
say "I HOPE I get a gazillion dollars by suing Chandler Enterprises" or "I
hope Dixie went blind" or "I hope YOU get nailed for this" or maybe even
"I hope they have better security in the morgue than they do HERE!"] He
asks Pam to trust HIM and that they are doing this for Leslie. She hands
him the key and asks him to tell her what she finds [a video of Tad trying
to strangle Leslie and throwing her around the hotel room?]
Back in Greenlee's room, Greenlee is now alert and jerking away from a
fussing nurse. Greenlee is in a hospital gown now. Jake walks in with
her CAT scans, saying they are clear. Greenlee frets that she STILL wants
out of there -- the color scheme is NAUSEATING [as is Jake]! He says the
CAT scans are clear and she'll be all right, but she has to stay the
night. Greenlee: "Yeah, RIGHT!" He reminds her that she was hit in the
face with a basketball. He says he just wants to keep an eye on her --
it's nothing major. She tries to sit up, but flops back from
nausea/pain/dizziness [I'm guessing here] and agrees to five more minutes.
She says she HATES hospitals. He razzes her, saying that's new, because
she always LOVED them for her sympathy ploys. Greenlee: "Is this payback
for that one teensy, tiny error in judgment?" She says she CAN'T stay --
she HATES hospitals, the gown is ugly, and the nurses sneer at her. The
nurse rolls her eyes. He says he'll stay with her for a little while,
then he's going to turn her over to the snickering nurses. She's
suspicious about him being so nice to her. He jokes about being a sucker
for her and says he might have to keep her there a whole week. Greenlee
begs him not to do that. He asks if she remembers getting hit in the face
with the basketball. She tries to sit up again and falls back again. She
puts her hand to her face and asks if her face is swollen [bringing to
mind what someone else mentioned, namely Marcia Brady getting hit in the
face with a football]. He tells her "not yet" and asks about the b-ball
again [this is getting mighty repetitious]. She says she remembers being
hopping mad and smashing the ball against the wall. She should have known
better because the LAST time she was around a basketball she got smashed
in the face by a player's size 14 shoe -- it wasn't pretty. Jake: "Well,
you're the one who's into all this holistic stuff. Maybe that should tell
you a little something about karma and all that stuff." Greenlee: "What
are you talking about, Jake? You're making my brain hurt!" [Mine too]
She tries to sit up, flops back [repeat, ad nauseam (so to speak)] and
says she wouldn't be the only one with a concussion if she had a
basketball right now.
Jake changes the subject and asks how old she was when she had her tonsils
out. Perplexed, she says she was six. Why, is she having tonsil
complications? He assures her that she's fine. Greenlee: "Then how did
you know that I had them out? Were you sticking one of those things down
my throat when i was out of it?" She gags and shudders at the thought :-)
He says she told him when she was drifting in and out. He swears she did
NOT say anything embarrassing. He guesses it was a terrible experience
for her and she agrees. Her parents weren't there, but her grandmother,
Millie, was. Millie was old school, though, and Greenlee wasn't allowed
to cry or embarrass her [that doesn't sound like Millicent as far as
Greenlee is concerned]. She says her parents were off on safari in Africa
or shopping in Milan or something. All she knows is that she was sick and
scared and they were off on another continent. He says it must have been
traumatic. Greenlee: "It was. I was sick, and I was alone, and -- and I
wanted my Mommy and Daddy, and they weren't there for me." Roger: "I'm
here now!" He and Greenlee stare at each other. He has the expression of
a rock. Greenlee ventures the tiniest hint of a smile.
Greenlee asks how he found out and he says Tina called him. Roger feigns
concern and asks if she's all right. Jake fills him in, holds out his
hand and introduces himself as Dr. Jake Martin. Roger ignores the hand
and sits down, going overboard as the concerned father. Jake and Tina
exchange a "what's up with THAT" look. He tells Greenlee that he HATES
the thought that she was sick or hurt -- he was afraid he was too late!
Greenlee basks with naked hope at his attention. Jake whispers to Tina,
asking what exactly she TOLD Roger. She says she told him about the
concussion -- she didn't tell him Greenlee was DYING or anything. Roger
resorts to babytalk, saying: "Look at that smile, huh? You're making me
very happy now!" [Where's a concussion-inducing club when you need one?]
Greenlee gives a brilliant smile and coos: "Oh, Daddy, I'm the one who's
happy!" Jake offers to give them some privacy and Roger, still not taking
his eyes off of Greenlee, says that would be appropriate. Jake and Tina
leave, but the nurse stays in the corner mixing something [spitballs for
the back of Roger's head? Please?] Roger asks her to tell him what
happened. She says she was at the Community Center and-- Roger: "The
what?" She says she was volunteering [well, she DID send all those people
to the movies to see "The Grapes of Wrath" to free up Jake's schedule and
make them appreciate how much better they had things than the people in
the dust bowl] and she got hit in the head with a basketball. Roger's
eyes light up with dollar signs as he insists they'll SUE! She says it
wouldn't be worth it, but he thinks it's a great idea. She says it was
her own fault. Besides, this was at a HOMELESS shelter where kids come to
play, and these people are always strapped, anyway. He relents. She
reaches for his hands and smiles at him with love, saying she's THRILLED
he came. Roger: "You're my little girl! I care DEEPLY for you!" [This
from the man who, mere days ago, told her that she was an accident and
that they NEVER wanted her and the only reason not to abort was to keep
the money flowing from the Greenlees] She lights up and says he doesn't
know how good it is to hear him say that. She looks pathetically grateful
for what is probably the most concern she has had in her LIFE from this
weasel. She hesitantly reminds him of that "fight" they had. He
earnestly tells her that he has a new perspective on things [yeah, it's
called "Erica Kane"] Roger: "This divorce from your mother and hearing
tonight that you could have been hurt, it's given me a new understanding
of what's important -- my family!" He pets her and says to tell him what
he can do for HER! Our poor little rich girl just about bursts with so
much happiness if makes you want to cry for her and her inevitable
disillusionment. She asks for a soda. He kisses her throbbing forehead
and leaves to do her bidding. As soon as he's through the doors, his
smile disappears. Jake walks over to him and says: "I just thought you
wanted to know, sir, we've run a number of tests on your daughter and
everything has come back --" Roger snarls: "Typical, isn't it, this kind
of prank?" Jake: "Excuse me?" Roger: "She's lying in there perfectly
healthy, and I'm called out of a crucial business negotiation to HOLD HER
HAND? I could have lost a fortune on this deal!" He stalks away and Jake
shakes his head in disbelief.
TAD AND DIXIE'S HOUSE
David and Dixie are on the couch. David tells Dixie he doesn't want
her to feel obligated. She says that's not why she asked him to stay.
Ever the martyr, he says he's already caused her so many problems. She
says he didn't cause her anything and he isn't comforting her by taking
the blame for something he didn't do. He ruminates over not being able
to stop Leslie before Junior was locked in an attic and Dixie was
dangling off the side of a building. She tells him to stop it -- he's
just tired and his wound is probably infected. [There's something
putrid in the room, all right] She tells him he needs to take his
antibiotics and rest. He says he would DIE if he lost her. She starts
blinking and says he didn't and would he let her help him get better?
She takes him into his arms for a hug and gazes at a cozy family photo
located behind the couch. She has pangs and turns her head away from
it, hugging David harder.
A while later, Dixie is patting David's forehead with a cold compress.
He's staring at her adoringly and says he just likes looking at her. She
wants to know how he's feeling and wants to check his shoulder wound. He
says he's fine, but if it means she's going to stop the TLC, then he's
not. "Not likely," she answers. He says the wound might be really nasty
and she counters that she's raising two boys who are in a constant state
of bandage grossness. Half his shirt comes off. Dixie pulls the bandage
1/2-way off and gasps, saying it's definitely infected. She's going to
clean it before he goes to bed. He says he's not used to letting anyone
take care of him like that. He likes it -- it feels wonderful. Really --
she doesn't know how much! There's a shave-and-a-haircut knock at the
door. Dixie grimaces, saying she'd know that knock anywhere -- it's her
mother-in-law. She gets the door and Opal pulls her into her arms in a
mother-hen hug. She had heard about what the whack-a-doodle Leslie had
done and just HAD to come over and see if Dixie was all right. Dixie says
she's fine; David stopped her (Leslie), so -- Opal marches into the room,
saying: "DAVID? Oh, are you still giving that snake in the grass credit
--". She sees David (pulling his unbuttoned shirt together) and stops
short, saying: "What the hell are YOU doing here?" David defiantly
glares at her.
Opal demands that David tell her what he was doing unbuttoned in her son's
living room. Dixie says it's HER house, too. Opal incredulously asks if
Dixie actually WANTS David there. Dixie says David was stabbed trying to
SAVE her and the wound is infected. She has him there so she can take
care of him. Opal: "I don't think the word 'ok' is in the same alphabet
with what I am thinking and feeling right now, Dixie." [GOOD for you,
Opal!] She asks if Dixie knows that Becca came over and asked if she
could stay with her and Petey. Dixie says "fine", but Opal says it's NOT
fine. [Since Becca's name never comes up again, I'm guessing Opal is
inferring that things are too tense and unhappy at the Martin household
for Becca to stay there.] Opal asks where Tad is and Dixie says he's not
there. Opal says she figured out as much, but does he know who IS? Dixie
says Opal knows she and Tad are in trouble. Opal emphatically says she
knows THAT and she doesn't like it -- or THIS -- one little BIT! Dixie
huffily says she was about to change David's dressing before Opal came
storming in. David starts to get up and leave and makes a big show of
being in pain. Dixie tells him he's running a fever and to stay put.
Opal watches with disgust and asks if Dixie is sure that's what she wants.
Dixie says she loves Opal and doesn't want to hurt her, but David is her
friend and he's hurt and she's going to make sure that he's all right.
Opal: "Oh, that he is all right while Tad is off god knows where --"
Dixie: "If Tad -- if David hadn't sensed where I was and stopped Leslie,
I would be the one in the coma, not her, ok?" Opal's voice gets higher
and she says: "David is the one that got Leslie all riled up and made her
go crazy in the first place!" Dixie gets indignant: "And who told you
that? TAA-AD, your son who had an affair with the crazy woman in the
first place?" Opal: "What? What -- what?" Dixie, her eyes fluttering
madly, says: "Opal, look. I -- I know this is really hard for you to
accept and I'm sure this is going to be really painful, but the fact of
the -- and it's very hard for me and it's even more hard for the kids --
but the fact of the matter is, is that your son had an affair with a very
dangerous woman. She kidnapped my son. She practically almost threw me
over the balcony! And David has been the only one who has been there for
me consistently through all of this without me even asking!" Opal: "And
have you asked yourself WHY -- why that is?" Dixie: "Look, he saved my
life! I can't and I won't forget that!" Opal: "What about your
marriage?" Dixie: "Well, what about it? I mean, I was fine. I was
perfectly content. Tad was the one who threw it away -- again. And what
has David done but been there for me like a real partner is supposed to
be, like Tad hasn't been for the past six months --" David looks
pleasantly surprised. Opal: "Oh, now, you just wait just a little red-
hot minute here!" Dixie: "No, no, no, look. This has been going on for a
really long time. Tad went back to Chandler for LIZA, of all people,
because she needed him. And I let him do what he needed to do. And what
do I get for that? I get a husband who has cheated on me again and who
has brought my family into complete jeopardy.! Well, no more! Do you
understand me? No more! I'm not going to stand here and take your
criticism! And if you insult David when he's been the one constant in my
life, after Tad has thrown away everything that we have built -- you got
that?" Opal's face hardens as she looks at Dixie like she's a squashed
bug. David smirks.
Opal's voice is deep as she says she shouldn't have come -- she's been
trying to keep out of her kids personal business, but his has just been so
terrible! Dixie agrees that it's hard, especially on the kids. Opal says
maybe she should think about THEM! Dixie says she IS thinking about them.
Opal: "What, with HIM here?" Dixie: "Maybe you should be asking Tad
what he was thinking when he slept with that woman." Opal: "You and Tad
-- you are meant to be!" Dixie: "I don't know, Opal. Apparently not.
Listen, I know this is hard for you and I don't want to hurt you, but this
is incredibly private stuff, ok? And I'm just sorry that you got so
involved." Opal says it's just so incredible to think that she and Tad
are splitting up! And where's Junior? Dixie says he's at Adam's and he
wants to be called "J.R." now. Opal snorts and rolls her head, looking a
lot like Phoebe: "Oh, really? Anything else?" She swallows and says
she's just so SORRY! Dixie nods and looks down. Opal turns and runs out
the door.
David stands and thanks Dixie for defending him. He says he doesn't
belong there. She insists that he DOES. She puts her hand to his
forehead, then tells him to go upstairs and lay down in the guest room.
She insists again and says she'll be up in a minute. She turns out the
lamp, then hears an insistent knock at the door. It's Tad. He tells her
that he has the answer to EVERYTHING. He holds up the key and says that
if he loves him -- if she's EVER loved him -- she'll come with him right
now!
Dixie impatiently tells him not to say things like that. And what is that
key? He says it's the key to something in Leslie's office. Dixie:
"Something?" He says it's to a locked drawer or file cabinet or a safe --
he doesn't know. Dixie: "And?" He yanks at her and begs her to just GO
with him and he'll tell her about it on the way [does anyone one soaps
EVER stop to explain anything?] Dixie feels much the same. She holds up
her hands and tells him he can explain it THERE. He says fine and walks
in. He tells her about the note and the key. He says that obviously
there's some kind of incriminating evidence there that Leslie wants used
to nail whomever was trying to do it to her. What does Dixie think?
Dixie: "I think you think all roads lead to David." [Look who's talking]
Tad: "Who else?" Dixie: "I can think of a few people." He begs her to
trust him just ONE more time, but she refuses. Dixie: "Why, so you can
blame David for Leslie's accident? I mean, really, Tad. If David wanted
to let her fall off the terrace, why did he do everything in his power to
save her life at the I.C.U.? I mean, she could have been dead if he
hadn't shown up. She would have been dead, and you KNOW that! I mean,
even your dad was impressed!" He says he'll make her a deal. If she just
goes with him now and he's wrong, he'll never mention it again [define
"it"] She asks if he REALLY means it and he'll leave David alone. Tad
gulps down a snide reply and says that if he's NOT the one that Leslie
implicates, he promises. She reluctantly gives in as David peers around
from behind a curtain. David looks VERY frustrated and caught. He tries
to come up with a way to contain the situation and exits stage left.
A CANADIAN CABIN
Alex is getting cabin fever. In the continuing effort to tease us with
bits of information, she tells the mystery man: "How much more can I do
out here in the middle of nowhere? We should be in a hospital!" Man:
"No." Alex: "But I can't help!" Man: "I said NO. You know the risk."
Alex: "Doing this here without any research, without any support --
that's more dangerous! I wish you could see that." Man: "We can't take
the chance." Alex: "But I can't do what I need for --" He tells her to
keep doing what she's doing -- it's working. Besides, she's already
compromised them. If whomever she called figures out their location, she
has no idea how sorry she'll be! She stares at him.
THE MARICK JET
The jet has landed somewhere in Ontario. Edmund and Dimitri check out a
map. Dimitri says he is NOT leaving Canada without his wife. The pilot,
Malcolm, looks on, frowning. When Malcolm steps in through the curtains,
Dimitri glances up, then quickly folds the map and stashes it at his feet
in an overtly sneaky way. Dimitri says he thought he asked Malcolm to
stay in the cockpit area. Malcolm says he just wants to know how long
they are going to stay there on the ground. Edmund says they just need a
little time and to hang loose. [Malcolm: "Are you kidding? It's winter
in Canada -- my balls aren't going to hang loose until we get to
Florida!"] Edmund smiles benignly at Malcolm while Dimitri bristles.
Malcolm, slow to take the hint, asks: "So, where you guys going to,
exactly?" Dimitri tells him there's no need for him to know that.
Malcolm says he has nothing else to do and thought he might help. Dimitri
tells him he needs to stay on board and be ready to take off at a moment's
notice. [Malcolm must be new -- the Marick jet must ALWAYS be fueled and
ready to take off -- it's the law!] Malcolm nods and just stands there.
Dimitri and Edmund stare at him a while, then get up and leave as a unit,
not unlike synchronized swimmers. I guess hang loose time is up.
A CANADIAN CABIN
Mystery man keeps staring out the window. Alex says he's making her
nervous -- is he going to stand there all night? She says that if they
had traced the call, they would have been there by now. She says she
appreciates all he's done, but they can't live like this forever. Man:
"We'll live like this as long as we have to. I just want to protect us."
She sighs and he tells her she looks tired. She says she IS. He tells
her to lie down for a while and she goes into another room, telling him
not to let her sleep too long. the man writes something in what looks
like a journal, then gets up and walks off to (presumably) the crapper.
Edmund and Dimitri walk up guessing that this must be the place. It's
snowy and the wind is blowing loudly.
Dimitri and Edmund walk into a VERY nice covered porch, which is in
amazingly pristine condition for being the dead of winter. Dimitri is
about to knock when Edmund stops him. Dimitri says they had decided to
take the tack of two guys lost and looking for directions -- has Edmund
changed his mind? Edmund is just not sure this is the right approach
since the place is so remote and was so hard to find. The people who have
Alex went to a lot of trouble not to be found. Edmund says he's going to
find out how many people are in there. He's about to check the window
around back when "The Man" opens the door and threatens them with a
fireplace poker, demanding to know what they are doing there.
Inexplicably, he brings them inside. He makes a show of deadbolting the
door and demands to know why they are trespassing on his property. The
Hardy Boys stutter out a story about their car breaking down and their
cell phones not working there, borrowing his phone and calling a tow-
truck. The surly old guy says he doesn't HAVE a phone. Dimitri
ingenuously says he saw some phone lines outside. The man reiterates
slowly and loudly that he DOESN'T HAVE A PHONE. The brothers give each
other sidelong looks as the magical chimes sound-effect plays. They both
spy Alex's bracelet on a table.
Dimitri flails for ideas and inanely says maybe they could borrow his car.
[yeah RIGHT, someone is going to a) invite two strangers into the house,
and b) let them borrow his car.) The guy says he doesn't have a car. The
bros smugly nod and look at each other. Edmund tells the guy he's a
regular Unibomber except that his digs are a little bit nicer. He wanders
around casing the joint [why hasn't this guy pulled a gun on these two
lunatics yet?] Ah, apparently there was a purpose in Edmund walking
across the room -- he distracted the guy and Dimitri slinked over in a
very cheesy fashion so they could make a Marick/Grey sandwich (no pun
intended) and pry the poker out of his hands. Alex rushes in at that
moment and says "Can I help you gentlemen?" Dimitri: "Oh, my GOD, Alex!"
He rushes over and grabs her, saying: "Alex, we have GOT to get you OUT!"
Alex violently pushes him off of her and snarls: "I don't THINK so! Who
the hell ARE you?" They all stare at her. Dimitri wiggles his tongue
back and forth and stares some more.
PV HOSPITAL
Roger is on a payphone as Jake looks on. He tells Mary (Greenlee's
mother) that Greenlee is perfectly fine and he doesn't think she's hurt at
ALL. Roger: "Well, this shouldn't surprise either one of us, Mary.
Greenlee is YOUR daughter. She learned her histrionics from the master!
Well, of COURSE it's a ploy for attention, but I do NOT intend to give
in!" Jake tsks and shakes his head and does his usual self-righteous,
judgmental posturing [not that it's not WARRANTED in this situation].
LESLIE'S OFFICE
Cat burglar music plays as David frantically ransacks Leslie's office
using only one arm. He jimmies the desk open with a letter opener,
miraculously finds an (open) envelope (amid a LOT of other papers) and
reads it aloud: "If something should happen to me and I am not here to
say what it is, it will be because I'm being framed for a crime committed
by Dr. David Hayward of Pine Valley Hospital. You will find attached to
this letter a sworn affidavit from Gordon Feimster." David: "Gordon,
that little troll!" Tad's voice can be heard out in the hall, saying:
"It's right here." Dixie sighs heavily and shrugs her arms, saying: "YOU
should know!" Tad stares and frowns. He grabs the doorknob and a
sweating David desperately looks around for an escape.
THE MARICK JET
Malcolm is reporting in to whomever it is that he's reporting in to. He
says they are on the ground and he went to the rental agency where Edmund
and Dimitri rented the SUV. He says they asked for a map of the Sachigo
River area, right near the Manitoba border and as good a place to start as
any.
A CANADIAN CABIN NEAR THE ONTARIO/MANITOBA BORDER
Dimitri rears back holding up his arms and slowly backing away. Edmund
patronizingly asks Alex if she recognizes him. In a hard voice she says
she's never seen either of them before in her LIFE! Dimitri: "Alex, what
have they DONE to you?" Alex steps in and stands next to NotAlex, saying:
"They haven't done anything to me, Dimitri! I'm fine." The Brothers Grim
stare back and forth at them in stupefaction.

Alex smiles and tells the Dynamic Duo: "This is Anna Devane." [no shit?]
Jake sits next to Greenlee's bed and says: "You're coming home with me."
Greenlee: "I beg your pardon?"
At the hospital, Erica incredulously asks Opal: "David and Dixie?" Opal:
"In EVERY way you would NEVER want to imagine!"
David bolts (letter in hand) to the side just as Tad and Dixie enter the
room. [There is no way in HELL they would not have noticed that, but
they're not in Hell, they're in Pine Valley]
Irreverently submitted,
