Friday Update

PREVIOUSLY ON ALL MY CHILDREN

At the mall Bianca frets over a drug-addled Laura: "You're sweating, Laura!" [If your friends can't tell you, who can?] Laura: "I can't seem to catch my breath!"

On the yacht, Leo says of the wounded, knife-wielding kid: "We just have to figure out who this guy is and where he came from." Alex is tending to the boy, who had jumped overboard: "He's in shock, and that wound is badly infected. If we don't get him to the E.R., we're never going to find out!"

At the hospital Leslie tells David: "There's nothing that can stop us." David: "Well, that's hardly true. You're off to a loony bin, and I'm fighting criminal charges."

At the hospital, Dixie pleads with Tad: "Please don't file for the divorce. Not yet."

THE FIDELITY

Roger stands on the deck, arms flung wide, bearing a bottle of champagne and best wishes for the engaged couple. They aren't buying it, but Roger blithely blathers about wanting to mend fences and give the bride away. Leo reminds him that he was told to stay away. Roger says he accepts that Leo is the man in her life now, but she'll always be his little girl. Leo says that's ENOUGH and starts to hustle him away. Greenlee tells Leo to wait and let him stay so they can show him what real love looks like.

Roger asks Greenlee not to go over old terrain. She says it was all an act that he and Mary put on for their friends and HER to prove that they were the world's most devoted couple. Roger: "It was a pattern we fell into. Nobody got hurt." Greenlee: "How can you say that?" He belittles being left behind as being the worst that's ever happened to Greenlee. She says he didn't love her and he used her mother. He says her mother got what she paid for -- an attentive man to open doors for her, help her with her wraps and make a mean martini. Roger: "Now, there are more taxing ways in life to make a living, wouldn't you say so, Leo?" Leo's eyes widen ever so slightly as realizes Roger may know something. Greenlee says they never loved each other, though. Roger says no, but they created the ILLUSION that they did and it lasted for 25 years, which is pretty impressive, isn't it? She thinks it's a pretty damn depressing way to spend 25 years, with separate beds and empty lives. Roger conspiratorially tells Leo: "Greenlee's very young, Leo. She thinks that love can be all that matters. She thinks that love will be the be-all and the end-all." Greenlee: "Didn't you ever want more out of life? Someone to hold your hand when you're afraid? Someone to make you feel like the world is a safe place? Someone who knows you to your core and still loves you anyway? Haven't you ever wanted what Leo and I have?" Roger: "Well, you know what they say. Women marry men who remind them of their fathers." Greenlee: "Leo is NOTHING like you!" Roger: "Don't be so sure." Leo once again tries to usher him off the yacht. Roger says they were just getting acquainted and he wants to be close to his future son-in-law. Leo suggests they get together on Father's Day. Roger says he wouldn't mind stepping into Leo's father's shoes. Oh, Leo never knew his father, did he? Leo looks askance. Roger asks if he's speaking out of turn -- he thought it was common knowledge -- certainly Vanessa made no bones about it. Leo asks how he knows his mother. Roger says he and Vanessa go back to the Stone Age, and he can't imagine why she didn't tell Leo that. Leo stares.

Greenlee says Vanessa never mentioned her friend Roger because she never made the Smith/Smythe connection. She explains to Leo about her run-in with her father and Erica at the Valley Inn and how Roger changed his name because Erica hates, loathes and despises Greenlee, and Roger wouldn't want Greenlee coming between him and Erica's bank account. Roger protests that that's ABSURD! She says it's not like it's anything NEW -- she was always invisible to him. He asks why she has to keep rehashing these old hurts. Leo puts his arm around Greenlee and says they wouldn't be rehashing ANYTHING if he hadn't barged in UNINVITED. Roger admits he's made mistakes but that "We're not prisoners of the past. The real measure of a man is not where he's been, but where he's going. I'm sure Leo would agree with that. Right, Leo? It's best to let sleeping dogs lie, right?" He looks meaningfully at Leo. Leo has definitely bought a clue by this point and suggests a toast -- why not pop the cork on Roger's champagne and toast to happiness. Greenlee: "Gee, because my dad's a selfish user who doesn't think about anyone but himself?" Leo says Roger is still her father, though, so what's the harm in a little toast and then shipping Roger back to shore? Greenlee is VERY wary as she says she'll put the champagne on ice. He tells her to take her time so it's well-chilled. She goes in and Leo spins back to Roger and tells him to spill. Vanessa told him they were getting married, didn't she? Roger says he doesn't think he's ever seen Vanessa look more radiant. The prospect of a secure future has put a certain glow on her face. Leo asks how Roger knows his mother. Roger says they moved in the same social circles. Leo's mother was a grifter extraordinaire who only picked the best pockets. Winter with a Rothschild, spring with the Ali Khan. They had her, and she took them. It was an equitable arrangement. "You know, I don't believe I ever saw your mother with the same man twice." Leo grabs Roger's collar and shakes him, telling him he hopes he's a good swimmer. Roger coolly asks if he's planning to throw him overboard. That would be his second mistake -- the first was targeting his daughter. Leo stares, looking busted and unsure what to do.

PINE VALLEY MALL

Dixie and Tad run into each other while shopping. Tad has been a very good customer at the Linen Locker. She asks if he's moving in with Jake and he says he's looking for his own place [you HAVE your own place -- Dixie just happens to be living there at the moment]. Dixie is all cheery and they joke about what animal Percale comes from. It seems that Opal practically forced Tad to go to the sale at the Linen Locker before everything disappeared. She called Dixie, too, to talk about her teaching job. They were supposed to meet in front of the Linen Lockedr. Oh, that matchmaking Opal! They laugh, followed by awkwardness. Dixie tells him to enjoy his sheets and starts to leave, but he invites her to stay for a cup of coffee.

Tad assumes that Dixie's teaching subject is World History. She is thrilled that he remembers that. [Am I the only one who is scoffing at this, given that the number one history lesson is that he who forgets the past is doomed to repeat it? Dixie repeats the past so often that she's a veritable broken record!] He says he always thought she should go on a TV quiz show since she knows so much about history. She says she'd freeze and he goes on about how strong and brave she is. She says she'll be ok, but sitting there with HIM, she has butterflies beating against her ribcage. [Those aren't butterflies] Tad says he does too. They talk about their own history and making small-talk like things had never changed. He says things HAVE changed, though. She says the situations have changed, but they are pretty much the same people. [true -- she always WAS a slave to her sexual desires and frequently ignored friends, family and loved ones to side with psychopaths] Tad wants to know how they know this isn't just some wonderful old habit and they are somehow missing who they really are? She says she knows him better than anybody in the world and she feels closer to him than anybody, especially now. Tad says it's the same for him. She sips her coffee, then gags with foam around her mouth, exclaiming that it's VANILLA! He gleefully says: "Surprise!" [huh?] He laughs and she smiles, saying it's good that they can still surprise each other. Tad: "Except when those surprises hurt." Dixie apologizes for letting what happened happen. Tad: "Well, you WANTED it to happen." Dixie tightens her mouth and looks down. Tad backpedals and says maybe the why isn't so important. Maybe they should just leave each other alone for a while. Dixie says she doesn't WANT to be alone [something she has amply demonstrated over and over again]. She wants her best friend back.

[There are a woman and a little girl plus a man who keep wandering back and forth between Lacy's and the store next to it. I mean every 15-30 SECONDS they walk back and forth. Last year (or so), I counted how many times each mall shopper went past a table. I won't do that this time, but I wanted to comment that wallets must be thin at ABC/Disney, because this time it's ONLY these 3 extras "shopping". Where DO they find salespeople to ring them up that fast?]

Dixie starts to tell Tad about an amazing dream about her mother she had had the night before. He says he LOVES to interpret dreams -- it's psychological. He encourages her to tell him all about it. She says they were back Pigeon Hollow and her mother was at the sink crying. It just broke her heart to hear it. Her mother wouldn't tell her why she was crying and made her promise not to tell her father. Then her mother turned around and gave her the biggest hug, and it was SO REAL! And she smelled like fresh bread and wisteria. Then she pulled back and, with the biggest smile on her face, she told Dixie that SHE was her reason for living, the person that kept her going and that she was her sunshine. [Now we know why Dixie kept singing that song]. Tad mentions that she used to sing that song to J.R. She says the funny part is that after the dream she woke up and felt like she knew her purpose in life. She felt like she knew who she was, what she was supposed to be doing, and felt like she was needed and made a difference in somebody's life, like the difference between life and death. She hasn't felt way since ... Tad: "Since David showed up?" She says she remembers when he used to talk to her. [The lighting in the scene suddenly shifts from darkish to VERY bright] She remembers when he used to tell her about Ray Gardner and everything that happened to him. He says he doesn't like to go back there too often. She says she knows how painful it was and that she was very touched that he trusted her enough to open up and share that part of his life with her. He asks what her point is. Dixie: "My point is that, you know, when you talked to me about Ray Gardner, I felt like -- well, like, you know, I always wanted to hug you, you know, and hold you like my mama did with me. You know? I wanted to just take all your pain away and make you feel good, you know, and protect you." [Isn't that how she felt about David, too? And Billy Clyde Tuggle. And Adam.] Tad says she felt needed. That's what the dream means. Ray Gardner can't hurt him anymore. He left that little boy in the park and now there are only two things that scare him to death: "First is that somebody I love could be hurt like that. And the second is going through my life without you. I don't need you to protect me anymore. I just need you to love me. ONLY me." She looks sad and guilty and says she hopes that someday she can do that. He deserves that. He suggests that, for now, that they keep things where they are. Dixie: "Where our hopes aren't too high?"

Tad says he has to go. As they get up, I notice that there actually ARE two more people in the mall, a mother and son sitting at another table. In the meantime the other three obsessive-compulsive people continue to roll back and forth like caged panthers. Dixie says she has to stop at the pharmacy to pick up her heart meds. He asks how her monthly went [and I wonder why he is asking about her period]. He meant her heart checkup. She says she needs to find a new cardiologist and is a week behind. He insists on taking her to the hospital where his father can hook her up with another heart doctor. She demurs, but he pushes, saying she's not the only person in the world who needs to be needed. He tells her to march and she whaps him with her shopping bag, their old camaraderie slipping back into place. The mother and little boy get up and leave, and the other mother and little girl sit down.

PINE VALLEY HOSPITAL

Jake, grinning like a Cheshire cat, walks into David's room. David tells him to get out. Jake keeps grinning and sits on the bed to give him the good news. The transfer is about to go through -- David is on his way to Statesville.

Out in the hallway, Leslie chats up a delivery person and finds out that the large canisters being delivered contain a new anesthetic. It's colorless and odorless -- like laughing gas. She says it sounds like fun. He says in small doses, maybe, but too much and you could die laughing. Leslie gets an evil look of anticipation on her face.

In the ER room, the kid looks apprehensively at Alex, Dimitri and Joe [why is Dimitri there?] Joe tells him that they are going to start him on antibiotics. The boy looks desperate [as anyone WOULD with Joe hammering away at them] and tries to bolt. Joe shoves him back down and tells him to calm down. He pulls back and asks Alex to talk to him, since he seems to respond to her. She gently holds him down, introduces herself and asks for his name. Ryan and Gillian open the double doors and walk right in like they own the place. Dimitri ushers them back to the hallway. They ask about the boy, and Dimitri says that he hasn't said a word. Back in the room, Alex asks if he can hear her. Other than a glance, he doesn't responds. Over in the corner, Joe deliberately drops a metal pan to the floor, which makes the kid flinch, so they decide he can at least hear. Alex asks Joe if he remembers the girl she treated the year before who couldn't speak because she was traumatized. Dimitri comes back in. She asks Joe and Dimitri to leave so she can talk to the boy alone. Dimitri is cautious, but she assures him she'll be ok. On the way out, Joe notices a flare-gun in the boy's jacket. Dimitri says he must have taken it from the ship. Joe takes it to lock it up. Alex holds the boy's hand and tells him she's not going to hurt him. He seems to waiver a little.

Outside the boy's room, Gillian says they SAW him stealing money at BJs, so why didn't Ryan tell them [why didn't SHE?] He says they just would have thrown him in jail. She asks why he cares -- why is he trying to protect him? Ryan says he was just scared -- he knows because he used to look just like him. She wonders why he was on the yacht, and they decided to go back and look for clues. Gillian clops off dragging Ryan with her. [Geez, put a ring on her finger and she turns into a domineering shrew!] Leslie intently watches them leave as the guard semi-intensely watches Leslie.

Joe puts the flare gun on the nurses' desk and signs some papers (presumably having to do with the gun). Bianca and Laura come stumbling in. Laura can barely breathe and seems to be having a wet- lung condition. She tells Joe she took Ecstasy and now she can't breathe and feels like she's having a heart attack. Bianca tells him that Laura had taken a triple-hit. Laura collapses. Dr. Trowbridge, Joe and Bianca catch her and yell for a stretcher.

When next we see her, Laura is out cold on a stretcher in the hallway while Joe orders all kinds of treatment. Brooke rushes in [if someone had enough time to call Brooke and for her to get there, then why didn't they have time to take Laura into a room?]. Brooke's comb apparently has several teeth missing, based on her hairdo [which is not to say that it doesn't look GOOD]. NOW they move Laura off, but don't let Brooke come with her. [Let me get this straight: just about anyone can prance in and out of David's room, Leslie's room and the kid's room [yes I know what the spoilers say his name is, but they haven't said it on the show yet, so he's still "the kid" or "the boy" for now] and any and all gynecological exam rooms DURING exams, but someone's own MOTHER can't go in to her own daughter's room?]

Brooke asks Bianca what happened. Brooke says Laura was so happy -- she just got into PVU! Does she have a problem? Bianca tells her that Laura was suspended from school and provides some minor details about the trio from hell putting the photos on the locker and Laura punching Shannon. Laura took the suspension pretty hard and Bianca thinks she needed something to take her mind off of it. The Public Service Announcement commences as Brooke talks about kids thinking they will live forever and how they can die from what they think is a harmless high. Bianca says Laura didn't think it was any worse than drinking alcohol.

In the hallway, Leslie notices a patient being wheeled around with an oxygen tank loaded onto the back of the wheelchair and a mask over her face. Leslie thinks about the "laughing gas" and shows a secret smile.

Back in David's room, Jake is smiling so big you'd think he just got laid in the janitor's closet. On the other hand, we've seen him right after he's been laid -- all he does is go to sleep or preach. David keeps saying he's not going to Statesville because Dr. Lambert is going to operate on his hand. Jake is DELIGHTED to tell him that Dr. Lambert ISN'T going to perform the surgery. Jake: "Don't worry about it. They're going to set you up with a great slice-and-dice guy at the prison infirmary." Jake stands up. David keeps reading his magazine and insists that's not going to happen. Jake says he can MAKE it happen. In a twist, David orders him out or he's calling SECURITY! Jake sits back down and taunts him, telling him to THROW him out. Oh wait, he can't -- he forgot about the arrhythmia, didn't he? He has a tricky ticker, doesn't he? David continues to pretend to ignore him. Jake says he knows he tried to bribe a judge. He also figured out that elevated potassium levels can cause the heart problem and, lo and behold, there is a bottle of potassium missing from the inventory. David says that if it's true, Jake probably did it to frame him. Jake says that's not HIS style. He tells David to get dressed. They are going to go down to the lab where Jake will personally supervise a blood test. If David's potassium levels are elevated, it's off to Statesville for him. David looks dismayed.

A while later David is dressed [I think Jake watched him, arms folded] and he tells Jake he's going to sue him and the hospital for harassment. Jake says he checked David's bloodwork from when he first had the arrhythmia. David says if he did that, then he knows it was normal. Jake: "So was Kristine Donato's." David asks what he's talking about. Jake says David somehow deluded Kristine that he was falsely accused. David says he doesn't have to put up with this. Jake: "Greater love hath no woman that substitutes her own blood sample for yours. You're going to have your own groupie writing you letters in prison." David looks down and around, trying to think fast. Jake turns to the guard and says it's time to get the prisoner down to the lab. The guard asks if a wheelchair is needed. Jake heartily agrees with the idea -- wouldn't want the patient's heart giving out! David makes David-like faces and bobs his head.

Back in the kid's room, Alex and Dimitri stare at the boy and discuss when they first met. Alex said she had an intuition that he was going to be an important part of her life. Dimitri asks what that has to do with the boy. She never takes her eyes off of the boy as she says she has a feeling that, given time, he's going to trust her. Dimitri asks to speak to her outside. The boy watches her every move. In the hall she asks if everything is all right. Dimitri says she's grown quite attached to her patient in a short period of time. They don't know anything about him, but she's ready to take him under her wing. She seems to be in another, gentler world as she asks why not -- he's all alone in the world. He asks how she knows that. She says she just feels it. He makes fun of her intuition, which she tells him not to make fun of. He says he's not doing that, he's just concerned about the fact that the boy shows up on the yacht in the middle of the night with a knife and doesn't offer any information about himself. Alex, like a Madonna, serenely says he needs her help. She'll find out why he won't communicate with them.

In the hall, Bianca tells Brooke that Dr. Joe said Laura would get through this. For the benefit of new viewers, Brooke asks: "Did Laura ever tell you how we met? She was in the park. She was going through the trash. She was looking for someone's discarded lunch. Her mom had just died, and she had been living on the street, and she came to Pine Valley and the only thing she had on her back was a knapsack and this little picture post card of Pine Valley. And, you know, she came here, and she came here looking for the end of the rainbow. She came here to -- to find something." Bianca: "She found you, Brooke." [I'll leave it to worthier Brooke bashers to take THAT one] She says Laura REALLY loves her! Brooke looks at the floor and asks why Laura didn't talk to her. When she was hurting, why did she turn to drugs instead? Bianca stares at her empathetically.

Leslie is now chatting up her hunky guard, John, holding his arm and telling him to send those headshots to Hollywood. John: "You think so?" Leslie: "With your looks and that bod? You could be the next David Hasselhoff!" [For those of you who don't know the connection (aside from the Baywatch flattery), David Hasselhoff stared in Knight Rider as the character, Michael Knight; Tad is played by Michael E. Knight. Michael E. Knight is married to Catherine Hickland, who was formerly married to David Hasselhoff.] John gives an "aw shucks, do you really think so" laugh. Leslie turns and sees the flare gun still on the counter. She fans herself and asks if it's hot in there or is it just her? John says that the nurse said the air was on the fritz. Leslie turns back to him and asks for a teensy, tiny favor, her being just a helpless girl and all -- could she have just a little sip of water? The meds are making her mouth so dry [anti-depressants will do that]. He looks around to make sure no one is watching and tells her to stay put. She promises "Mr. Hasselhoff" not to budge an inch. He smiles at her, still jazzed and goofy over the idea of being a star. He actually goes into the SUPPLY CLOSET to get her the water, letting the door close behind him. Leslie looks around, then starts unscrewing valves on the "laughing gas".

Later on, an orderly rolls up with a cart full of laundry. He's grinning, then starts laughing. [I figure he just found out about Dixie teaching History] He leaves the cart where it is and, still laughing, passes Leslie, who is holding a mask over her face and a tank of oxygen on her lap. [Did she steal it from the lady in the wheelchair?] She gives a "YES!" motion with her arm as she realizes her plan is starting to work. John returns with her water, walking right by the loudly hissing tanks of laughing gas. He asks her about the mask and she says she's just feeling the teeniest bit faint. As he hands her the water, he starts gasping. After handing it to her, he faints, falling prettily to the floor. Leslie puts the water down. Behind her, Alex faints. Dimitri starts to call for help, but falls on top of her, then rolls off. Leslie smiles and shrugs her shoulders in delight. Brooke tells Bianca that she wants to see Laura. Brooke gets as far as the tanks, holds onto the rail if the cart containing them, then falls to the floor. Bianca yells for help, then faints. A nurse comes around to help, but faints. Leslie looks around at all the bodies, then steps over them to leave. Joe comes out of the Emergency room and yells at Leslie to stay where she is. He suddenly looks like he's feeling a little funky. Leslie stops and looks at the flaregun on the counter. She puts the oxygen tank on the counter, grabs the gun and shoots it at Joe. At first it looks like he's vaporized, but he actually dove off to the side. The flare had gone into the laundry cart.

The camera moves to an adjoining hallway where a guard is wheeling David back from the lab, with Jake alongside. Pat Trowbridge walks up to Jake, laughing, and says: "Guys, something really WONKY'S going down in the E.R.! People are falling like flies!" Still laughing, she strikes a pose and faints into Jake's arms. Jake picks her up and says he's going to call Security and check it out. He tells the guard NOT to take his eyes off of David. He takes Pat off to check her out. David jumps up and says he's going to check out what's going on in the E.R. The guard thinks not and puts his arms around him to take him back to the chair. David smoothly reaches around and grabs his gun. [Where do these "guards" get their training, through a mail-order catalog?] Did they have to draw a simplistic picture of a turtle named "Winky" to qualify?] David orders the guard to cuff himself to a nearby pipe and to give him the keys. A siren starts wailing in the background. David looks desperate.

Leslie, now standing in a very foggy/smokey hallway, maskless, yet completely unaffected by the gas, runs outside. Her slipper comes off and she actually stops to put it back on. The siren is actually a fire alarm in the hospital. Leslie grabs a nearby yard broom and slips the pole through the handles on the door to the Emergency area. She looks at the havoc she has wrought, gives a grin and then a tricky, EVIL Jack Nicholson eyebrow lift, then runs away.

Back in the hallway, a fire is burning in the laundry cart. David walks in, coughing. He holds a handkerchief over his mouth [where did he get THAT?] and surveys the room, noting Joe, Alex and Brooke on the floor. He continues to cough, sees the canisters and skips over to turn them off. He tries to leave, but finds the doors blocked by the yard tool. He steps back 1 pace and rushes the door, breaking them open. [How old WAS that broom? Does the hospital have termites?] David gulps lungsful of air and looks out yearningly at the freedom beyond. He props the doors open, coughs some more, then goes back in, covering his mouth again. He grabs a fire extinguisher and puts the fire out, then runs back to the counter to suck some air from Leslie's discarded oxygen tank. While doing so, he sees the discarded flaregun. He then takes the tank over to Brooke and places it on her face. He picks up Bianca and takes her outside (she actually staggers WITH him). He lays her down on the walkway and sits down, gasping for air.

THE FIDELITY

Leo lets go of Roger's collar. Roger coolly rearranges his tie and says he knows how Leo and Vanessa operate. They find their mark, find out how much they can take them for, then they take the money and run. Roger: "You see, it takes a THIEF to CATCH a thief." Leo says Roger is no better than they are, and Roger agrees. Leo says Roger married for money and then looted his daughter's trust fund. Roger: "And now I'm passing the batt'-on [that's how he pronounced it] on to YOU! Leo is confused -- Roger is NOT going to stop the marriage? On the contrary, Roger is giving him his blessing. Leo can go ahead and marry Greenlee and help himself to her trust fund. Roger only asks one thing -- don't get greedy. Keep HIM in the style to which he has become accustomed and he won't tell Greenlee that the only thing Leo loves about her is her money. Leo stares, looking trapped.

Roger looks around, enjoying the ocean view. He says he's not UNREASONABLE and that they can come to a mutually beneficial arrangement -- Leo will cut him in on a piece of the action. Leo: "And if I don't?" Roger: "Ooh, ooh!" He shakes his head and makes unfortuante faces. "Failure to remit will result in a blow-by-blow account of your past escapades -- how you came to America with your eye on her fortune, how your motive for marriage wasn't love but money." Leo: "No, no, I LOVE Greenlee!" Roger: "Well, you don't have to convince ME, but I think you'll have a hard time with that line once my daughter's seen THIS." Roger holds out a piece of paper. Leo looks at it and his face falls. He steps back looking like this CAN'T be happening! Greenlee chooses that moment to walk up with champagne glasses. She hands out the glasses and notes that the conversation came to a screeching halt -- what did she miss? Roger says he and her fiance' were just discussing what would be an appropriate wedding gift. She suggests a cottage in The Vineyard. Roger suggests they just drink to the happy occasion. Roger: "Leo? Would you like to do the honors, or would you like me to speak my piece?" He smiles at Leo, whose eyes are about as big as they can get. Leo looks down.

PINE VALLEY HOSPITAL

David drags Joe on a blanket out through the smoky room. As he gets outside, Tad and Dixie run up [why do they need to go through the Emergency room for a routine checkup? Isn't there another entrance to the hospital?] Tad runs to Joe and lifts his head. He turns and asks David what's wrong. Now we can hear Police sirens. David manages to gasp out that Joe will be all right, then falls backward into Dixie's arms. Tad looks at them and Dixie caresses David's brow.

On the deck of the yacht, Roger tells Leo: "I won't tell Greenlee about it -- YET." Greenlee appears in the doorway to the deck: "You won't tell me what, Daddy?"

Dimitri gently slaps Alex's face as she lies on the floor: "Alex! Alex!"

In the Emergency room, Brooke clasps he hands and yells: "Laura, NO, NO!" A nurse grabs the defib paddles.

Just outside the entrance to Emergency Dixie pleads with Tad: "Tad, wait a second! Don't you go in there!" Tad: "Just stay here. I got to do what I can! Dixie: "Tad!"
