Friday Update

PREVIOUSLY ON ALL MY CHILDREN

Greenlee tearfully tells Leo: "Let the past go. Can you do that?" He kisses her.

At BJs, Ryan caresses Gillian's face and says: "I love you, Gillian." Gillian: "I love you, too, you overprotective, impossible man!"

At the hospital, Laura tells Bianca: "I will NOT be tested for drugs!" She turns to see a startled Erica watching them.

From his hospital bed, David blissfully smiles at a beneficent Dixie and says: "You're really here!"

THE LOFT

Leo and Greenlee are in bed basking in the glow of their blissful morning after. He wants to celebrate, but she won't let him get out of bed to go buy champagne. She is sure something will happen because it always does whenever they are apart. His mother or Laura or someone will come between them. He stays. He mentions they are low on rations. She says she doesn't want to be casual about them anymore. She wants them to stay in bed just for now. They kiss passionately and appear to be getting down to business when a knock is heard at door. It's her father. They try to ignore him. Roger is persistent, however, and says it's REALLY important -- it's about her mother!

Greenlee dons her robe and opens the door. Roger barrels in and gives a Canadian apology (sore-ry). Greenlee is freaking over what might have happened to her mother. Roger whines that her mother has cut him off and he can barely get by on the allowance he WAS getting! Greenlee can't believe he said something horrible happened to her mother just so he could get in and cry POVERTY! Roger: "Greenlee, I don't have a penny to my name! Now, you've got to get on the phone on my behalf and talk some sense into --" Greenlee: "Like HELL I do! You pretend I'm invisible and suddenly I exist when you need CASH? Forget it, Daddy. Go ask your new girlfriend, Erica Kane, for a loan! Better yet, get a job, like a real person!" Roger: "This, from the family-funded perpetual film student waiting for her break?" She tells him not to insult her. He grabs her and shakes her, insisting she HAS to get on the phone and HELP HIM. As he shakes her, she screams. Leo rushes in, shirt unbuttoned, and grabs Roger. Roger haughtily shakes him off, notes state of undress and gets snide. He tells him to stay out of FAMILY BUSINESS. Leo tells him he (Roger) IS leaving! Leo says he IS in the middle of this family business and drags him toward the door. Roger takes a swing at him and misses. Leo then punches Roger to the floor as Greenlee shrieks and stares open-mouthed.

Roger gets up and he and Leo yell over each other. Leo keeps yelling for him to get out and Roger keeps yelling to Greenlee that she has to help him. Roger: "This is none of your concern!" Leo: "No, this IS my concern, Roger! Greenlee is with me now, and you can't come near her again! Do you get the picture? Because you're not in it!" Roger straightens his coat and says he gets the picture far more than Leo knows. He leaves. Greenlee watches, looking crushed and confused at how things have turned out.

BJS

Ryan and Gillian are having breakfast at BJs. Ryan asks what her incredible dream is and Gillian waxes on about them sailing off on The Fidelity, Ryan teaching her nautical terms and them ending up on an island paradise. Ryan grabs and kisses her, then takes her fantasy and runs with it as an incredible dream for all. They can take a few couples sharing the same fantasy out with them, AND get to be out on the yacht with them every day. [Uh, I think that's called a cruise. I hate to tell you this, Ryan, but that is NOT a new idea.] Ryan brushes off the idea of running it by fuddy-duddy Adam, opting instead to make it a done deal and then dazzle Adam afterward, and making enough to get his company back.

An African-American kid comes in and steals a tip from a table as Ryan watches. Ryan tells Gillian about the kid being hungry and using $5 for as much food as possible. He appears to be very poor. Ryan knows this because he used to do the same thing. He gets up and replaces the tip on the table. Ryan says he can't directly offer the kid any money because Ryan wouldn't accept it when he was doing the same thing.

The cheerleaders from hell bounce in laughing and being snide. They take a floppy and a journal to some guy named Albert to do something with it. They continue to diss Laura and Bianca.

PV HOSPITAL

When confronted by Erica Laura tells her she won't take a drug test because she doesn't need one. She says she's feeling poorly because she's hypoglycemic and hadn't eaten so her blood sugar is crashing. Laura is starting to look like one of the zombies in Michael Jack's "Thriller" video. She tells Erica that the people at the hospital are SO paranoid -- they think ALL kids are on drugs and won't even deal with her without taking a blood test. Laura thinks that's discriminatory and she refuses to do it. They won't examine her without a bloodtest, though. Erica asks why Bianca didn't say anything. Thus confronted, Bianca backs down and says Laura just felt faint. Erica tells them how worried she was when they ran out of the high school like that. She asks if Bianca will have dinner with her tonight. Erica offers to drive them home, but Laura wants to drive her own car (with Bianca). Erica is sure something is going on, but not QUITE sure. She tells them to drive carefully. She also tells Laura to call her mother. Erica leaves. Bianca heaves a sigh of mingled relief and frustration and starts to stalk out. Laura stops her and apologizes, Bianca is in a snit about having to cover for her and storms out. Laura follows.

In David's room, Vanessa is visiting. Joe comes in and David asks why he's back in ER, since he was so comfortable in his own room. Joe says they had a staff meeting and decided, with the help of 1/2 the PV police force (i.e., Derek, no doubt) that David's surgery will be performed at Statesville. He's in the ER for the convenience of his pending law-enforced escort. Vanessa rants about getting their lawyer. David tells her to knock it off because he has it handled and there is no way he is leaving Pine Valley.

Erica starts to make a phone call, but stops to call out to Joe and ask who examined Laura English. He didn't realize Laura was there. He was too taken up with David Hayward's situation. Erica doesn't know what that situation is and, being the ethical physician that he is, Joe vaguely tells her.

In David's room, Vanessa frets an David tells to calm down. He asks his mother to get some potassium and clean syringe from a locked cabinet behind the nurses' station. She points out that she needs a key if it's locked. A handsome guard comes in to, well, guard. A nurse also comes in, followed by Erica. David tells Vanessa to create a distraction. Vanessa proceeds to hicculp, gulp, gasp, and verbally attack Erica as being the cause of all this because she broke David's heart and drove him to it. Erica is shocked, to say the least and looks at Vanessa as if she's acting like a lunatic [hard to tell with Vanessa]. Vanessa growls and sneers and viciously lashes out at her, grabbing and pushing her. The handsome guard finally intervenes and holds them apart. As Vanessa continues to berate Erica, the nurse futzes with David's good hand, then drops it and turns to watch the melee. Vanessa: "What more could you POSSIBLY do to my family, Erica?" Erica: "What's the MATTER with you? Didn't Palmer feed you yet today?" [BWAHAHAAA!} David takes advantage of the distraction by taking a ring of keys conveniently dangling out of the nurse's pocket.

As the nurse and the guard ensure Erica's state of well-being, David calls Vanessa over and hands her the keys. He asks her for a moment alone with Erica. Vanessa leaves, gasping and breathing hard; as she passes Erica, Erica hugs herself and acts like she's been slimed. David asks for privacy and guard & nurse leave.

Vanessa sizes up the waiting area situation, then feints feeling faint and asks nurse for water. The nurse goes, and Vanessa slips into the supply room. She unlocks the supply cabinet and takes a bottle of potassium chloride and a syringe, relocks it, gasps and walks out.

David says lost it in jail cell. He has SO many regrets! She's right, he was broken up over their breakup and he needs her now more than he's ever needed anyone in his life! She asks what he's up to -- knows when he's honest or angling and this is angling. He needs her on his side and to lean on during trial. She asks if he wants her to testify on his behalf. Would she? She has good reason to turn him down, drugging her and jeopardizing her sobriety. He says he'll spend the rest of his life regretting the whole experience. She says it's a lot more serious than that. Her daughter was at that party and PASSED OUT. The whole town is still rippling from the after-effects. He has to take responsibility! He says he made a TERRIBLE mistake! She scoffs at his mere "MISTAKE". Erica says she CAN'T be that forgiving and will NOT testify on his behalf [what could she say, anyway, that he's good in bed and plays the piano well?]. In fact, she hopes he convicted and goes to prison. She hopes that while he's in there he thinks about what his lies and dangerous choices have done to everyone around him. She clops to the door, turns back and says it didn't HAVE to happen -- he did it to HIMSELF! She slams out and the hunky guard comes back in, along with Vanessa. Vanessa loudly asks David to forgive her for making such as scene as she hands him the medical supplies.

Outside David's room, Brooke frantically rushes up to Erica, who thought she was out of town. Brooke says she was just in Philadelphia and asks about Laura. Erica tells her to ask Laura, who says she fine, although the doctors didn't examine her. Brooke asks what the call was about then. Erica says she is only reporting what she was told. She tells Brooke about the hypoglycemia self-diagnosis excuse that Laura gave including the doctors hearing Laura's self-diagnosis and assuming a drug problem, resulting in an offended Laura rejecting the drug test and stalking out. [I notice that Brooke's hair is strangely shiny, like there are snail tracks in it] Brooke says it doesn't make any sense. Erica says it's Brooke's DAUGHTER'S that's not making any sense. She doesn't know what's wrong with her, but she did APPEAR to be a nervous wreck. She thinks maybe it was because Laura IS going through a crisis and her mother was nowhere to be found. Brooke tells her NOT to go down that road with her now. Brooke elicts that the girls are at Erica's house to get knapsacks and rushes over, with Erica following.

ERICA'S HOUSE

Laura and Bianca enter. Bianca goes into the living room while Laura stands near the door, holding onto her head. Bianca comes back and hands her her bag. Laura wants to talk. Bianca was silent all the way home. Bianca brushes her off and says she has exam tomorrow. She's tired and she wants Laura to go. She lectures Laura about taking X, getting sick, freaking out in the ER and lying to Erica which made Bianca feel like she had to lie to her too. Laura again apologizes. Bianca lashes out that sorry isn't good enough. She can't do this anymore. She can't cover for Laura while she gets high and doesn't want to be the school narc. If Laura says it's no big deal, then why does she keep doing it? Bianca is scared that so many kids at school are taking X. Laura almost passed out 24 hours after taking x; her hugging her and acting like a pod person scares her -- doesn't want to be around drugs or friends while on drugs. Laura asks her to wait. Bianca tells HER to wait and see what this is going to do to her -- she doesn't want to be her nursemaid when she has a bad trip. She's not cut out for it and doesn't want the responsibility! Laura promises it will never happen again. Bianca agrees because she's not going to be hanging around with her to see it. Laura is surprised at being given the boot.

BJS

Apparently Albert has finished his work, because the cheerleaders use satellite to access a website called www.BabyKaneExposed.com. [I notice that Laura and Shannon both have zigzag parts in their hair] They gush over the AWESOME web page and can't wait for Bianca to see it, so Shannon calls her on her cell phone.

The kid sitting at BJs bar wolfs down food as the Laveries nonchalantly watch with a video camera and audio surveillance equipment, complete with an audio-boost dish. Joe is eating next to kid. Ryan comments that the kid is starving and Gillian whimpers at the thought of Ryan ever being that alone. Joe's beeper beeps and he asks for his brunch to be wrapped up and delivered to office. The kid sees the money Joe has left on the bar and takes it, then starts to leave. Ryan gets up and stops him at the door, asking for the $20 back that he just took from the bar. The kid feigns innocence. Ryan says he knows he's hungry but he WILL get caught! The kid bolts. Ryan starts after him, but Gillian grabs him and orders him to let the guy go. The $20 is on the floor. Ryan picks it up and says the kid dropped it on purpose. Gillian doubts that and tells him to let it be; she's worried about retaliation on Ryan. Ryan takes the $20 back to bar.

ERICA'S HOUSE

Bianca tells Laura to leave and not to talk to her at school or call anymore. The phone rings. It's Shannon, who's laughing too hard to talk. She tells her to log onto the site. Bianca couldn't understand her very well through all the laughing. Laura asks about the call. Bianca looks spooked and says the other girls were there, too, and they were all laughing like they used to before ... Bianca and Laura lunge for her notebook. Laura actually plugs phone in to world's fastest booting notebook. Bianca looks horrified at the site that instantly appears before the notebook even finishes it startup beeping and without Bianca typing in a single keystroke.

PV HOSPITAL

Vanessa natters on about the club and covers David from view while he loads the syringe and the guard reads a newspaper. David has Vanessa inject the syringe into the IV. After some commercials, Joe rushes into the room and an ER doctor informs him about an arrhythmia. [Why was JOE beeped about it? He shouldn't be having ANYTHING to do with David!] David is breathing in shallow gasps. Joe orders an EKG and cancels the discharge order when a nurse says the Medivac is waiting for David, because David is not stable. Vanessa and David exchange conspiratorial looks.

Vanessa rushes out and runs into Roger, who has tracked her down. He says he just came from seeing Leo and Greenlee. She notes his wounded mouth and asks if he had a fight with Leo. He tells her he knows of her plot to score on Palmer Cortlandt and Greenlee. He knows how she operates, remember? He promises to keep quiet about her little scam if she cuts him in. When Leo marries Greenlee, he wants half the dowry BEFORE she blows out of town. Deal? Vanessa makes a totally weird face [which is saying something when it comes to Vanessa] like he's a caterpillar that just crapped on her hand.

THE LOFT

Leo apologizes for punching her Dad. She says Roger punched him first. Leo says Roger won't come near her again. She tearfully asks him to marry her.

ERICA'S HOUSE

We see the contents of the www.BabyKaneExposed website: There's a picture of a smiling Erica. The caption says "Erica Kane: Stalwart Anti-Drug Campaigner, Chairwoman of Teens Against Addiction and Mother of Second Most Famous Lesbian in USA, Bianca Montgomery". Bianca scrolls down to see a picture of Laura hugging her the night before. The caption reads: "Bianca's Dark Secret: Her Lover, Laura English, Is A Drug-Addicted X-Freak". Laura reads over her shoulder and asks if the info is from Bianca's journal. Erica & Brooke walk in and the girls look like deer caught in headlights. The mothers stare questioningly. The girls look VERY guilty.

BJS

The cheerleaders laugh and whoop as they leave. [FAC BJS ON] My EARS!!! [FAC BJS OFF] Gillian and Ryan are about to go to yacht to start working on making some money. Gillian remembers that she left something at the turret. She wants to go now to get her great-great grandmother's cameo. Ryan doesn't like spending time at estate now, but she REALLY wants to get it. Gillian: "Please? Don't make me beg!" Ryan: "I LIKE it when you beg!" She playfully slaps him and they go.

THE TURRET

Someone with gloved hands walks up to the door and picks the lock (like it's ever locked!) The person goes in [I notice a shoe's untied. In fact, it looks like they are from different pairs, one with laces and one without]. The camera pans up and it's the kid from BJS. He looks around.

ON THE NEXT AMC

Erica sits at the notebook as Brooke reads over her shoulder: "'Bianca's lover addicted to ecstasy'?" Laura: "It's a lie! It's a lie! They made it up!"

Ryan calls out at the door to the turret: "Dimitri? Edmund?" The kid hides behind a curtain brandishing a heavy candlestick like a club.

At the loft, Greenlee tries to persuade a pensive Leo: "Let me make love with you forever, Leo. Let me be your wife."
